It's true. Problem with Rex was when it was going good, we were on top of the world. But his mouth caused a hard fall when we finally did take a turn. You just can't talk like that unless you're backing it up. That being said it felt great to be legitimately in the conversation and he really did give us some pride as fans. When he said he didn't come to kiss Belichick's rings I fucking believed him and he walked the walk for a minute there. Good times!

Some great memories here. Thanks for posting. I was at the San Diego game and remember commenting that there were 50,000 'really nervous' southern Californians late in the 4th. The Indy game (1st championship), Indy was just a better team that year. The Pittsburgh game is the one that will bother me for the rest of my life. It seemed like Pittsburgh was up three scores in the blink of an eye and the Jets just kept on fighting back. No good reason that they started to flat. Rex and Sanchez worked very well together.

Pittsburgh played more physical on both sides of the ball. Defense didn’t tackle. Shotty choked on the goal line play-calling. And Big Ben was unbelievable escaping pressure. Our 2015 Jets team was good as well. We were 10-6 but just couldnt finish off the season with the win we needed to get to the playoffs. The beauty out that team is although we still had core players like Ferguson, Mangold, Harris, Pace, Cromartie, and Revis from the 09-11 years, we added quality young players and more importantly, solid free agents to fix holes. The team was a much different team in terms of scheme though. Where with Rex we were more run, run, run, run, play action...the 2015 Jets were more spread with Decker and Marshall as our two main receiving targets. Not to mention the bearded wonder Ryan Fitzpatrick who killed it at quarterback with 31 touchdowns and 15 interceptions and almost 4,000 yards passing. In my opinion, the 2015 team was a much more exciting team to watch play, though their defense wasnt as good as the 2009 team, they were comparable to 2010. If you havent seen highlights of the 2015 Jets, you need to.

Was Mark Sanchez overrated or underrated? In retrospect I'm having a hard time deciding. My theory is that when all of these key pieces started going down around him, he suffered a confidence crisis and never recovered.

sanchez was serviceable, we ruined him by changing systems and making him throw much more, plus with an aging line and loss of weapons such as not having a running game anymore and holmes being holmes and yes cochery and edwards gone hurt too. He wasn't elite but he took to much of the blame for us sucking after that.

@@justinshay2873 I get what your saying, but good players can do more with less. Sanchez, was not that player. He was an ok player at times, and had some big moments. Like I always say, he couldn't read pass coverage for shit. The fact that he never made any noise after he left the Jets, says it all. As you say, not an elite player.

As a Jets fan all my life these past nine years have been absolutely painful in everyway and its just a nightmare to watch (Ik people are saying 2015 which is true 10-6 isnt that bad but it doesnt make missing the playoffs for the past nine years any easier.) I have never seen a team lose like the New York Jets and they are in the top 3 most painful football teams to root for. Every year just wasted draft pick after pick (adams being the exception, and darnold give him time i guess) and horrible moves and AWFUL ownership from the Johnson's make this team a form of torture to watch. I love this team and i will never leave but damn do they make it hard. I was 11 when they were in the playoffs last and it was an AFC Championship game. I miss this team.
