She and I got married in October 1980, and since then we have been together, having the fortune of have seen Engelbert sing live in two occasions. What a personality of singer! Freedom in my childhood growing up in the '70s. Rode my bike all over the place, staying out until the street lights flickered on, and the sun had dipped below the horizon. Eight track tapes, record players, knowing all your neighbors, block parties, playing with all the neighborhood kids in their yards and in the streets. Sucking on popsicles, climbing trees, and playing Ghost in the Graveyard. Beautiful memories.

Nice to hear that. I found this song a few months ago and suddenly remembered all my childhood. The surprise has been knowing that it was released 18 August 1967, a month after I was born. The other surprise that I just got is, that I listened to it a lot after my father's death, remembering him. The coincidence that my father was born on August 18.

Lyrics: I wondered should I go or should I stay, The band had only one more song to play. And then I saw you out the corner of my eye, A little girl, alone and so shy. I had the last waltz with you, Two lonely people together. I fell in love with you, The last waltz should last forever. But the love we had was going strong, Through the good and bad we get along. And then the flame of love died in your eye, My heart was broke in two when you said goodbye. I had the last waltz with you, Two lonely people together. I fell in love with you, The last waltz should last forever. It's all over now, nothing left to say, Just my tears and the orchestra playing. La la la la la la la la la, La la la la la la la la la. I had the last waltz with you, Two lonely people together. I fell in love with you, The last waltz should last forever.

This song is sad. When I listened to it in the late 60s when I was only about 5 years old in Singapore, it gave me a feeling of a wide expanse of space. It is like waltzing in life figuratively. That time we had a Fitzpatrick supermarket in Singapore and the interior building structure of the building consisted of three diamon-shaped motiffs that is part of the building on one side of the wall. When I heard this song, I literally ran to and fro to the motif in ecstasy. So this song although sad, show us life is like a waltz. You can expand out to get out the feeling of sadness.

@@anubhavagarwal117 hey man, I'm right there with you. Sometimes I just wonder if this life is worth living, and I've thought about suicide many times. But what always brings me back is thinking about what I want in life and the people I love. It's not worth giving them a reason to be sad, and it's not worth ending your own life. I'm not here to preach or tell you how to live, but suicide is never the answer my friend. It's a permanent 'solution', to a temporary problem. It may take time, and it may be a long time, but you'll eventually see the value in living again. I always try and remember this whenever I feel depressed or sad, and it helps me. I hope it can help you too man. There's value in the short amount of time we have in this life, just gotta find it :)

For any younger generation person listening to this, it is not my intention to offend but to perhaps inspire some to carry the baton forward. consider the following; The common apologetic argument today when older folks criticize modern music is to fire back with, "Well, but your grandparents didn't like your music either." This quickly reveals the ignorance about the retrograde, deteriorating human values and culture. Just dwell on this gentleman's performance. It is not just about his talent, not everyone was an Engelbert Humperdinck fan. What this classic song really reveals is humanity's ability to see the beauty in the world across borders and cultures in spite of the ever present hardships of which there was plenty to go around. You may have had a difficult time or life but the arts (music in this case) could give you a momentary escape. Today, mass media celebrates ugliness and brings all of that darkness to the fore front. And yet, most modern musicians are convinced that their contributions are good. Todays music has remained largely unchanged for 30 years. I assure you, if you live long enough to remember this post that todays artistic productions will get lost in time and not receive classical status in the years ahead. Sadly, there is no real redeeming value to any of it. Is there any hope? I'm loosing it in my waning years.

First time U listened to this song by Engelbert Humperdinck was in 1963 when I passed the most difficult bar exams in the history of Philippine Bar Examination - when the questions were designed intentionally to flunk the candidates. Engelbert's voice has a peculiar fling that uplifts the spirit. I love his music ever since.

I found this song a few months ago and suddenly remembered all my childhood. The surprise has been knowing that it was released 18 August 1967, a month after I was born. The other surprise that I just got is, that I listened to it a lot after my father's death, remembering him. The coincidence that my father was born on August 18.

This was played at the end of my Nans Funeral on July 20th this year. I never knew of Engelbert Humperdinck being born in 95 myself... It was actually going to visit my Nan in her care home. We would always put on the 60's Music Channel and Humperdinck was on with one of his songs. My Mum said to Nan wasn't he handsome and Nan as if she remembered said yes. When planning the funeral we felt this song was perfect for walking out, as it would be my nan and grandads last waltz together. Now I find myself listening to Humperdinck so much, along with Jim Reeves etc. Such a beautiful song

"The Last Waltz" is a ballad, written by Barry Mason and Les Reed. It was one of Engelbert Humperdinck's biggest hits, spending five weeks at number 1 on the UK Singles Chart, from September 1967 to October 1967 in the United Kingdom. The title of the song is something of a double entendre as it refers to both the narrator's first and last dances with the woman he loves: the first dance was the "last waltz" played at the party where the two met, and the final dance signified the end of their relationship after their romance had cooled.

The Meaning Behind The Song: The Last Waltz by Engelbert Humperdinck The Last Waltz is a beautiful and emotional song that has touched many hearts over the years. It was written by Barry Mason and Les Reed and originally released by Engelbert Humperdinck in 1967. The song quickly became a hit, reaching the top of the charts in several countries, including the UK. The Last Waltz is a timeless classic that has stood the test of time, and its beautiful melody and heartfelt lyrics continue to resonate with people today. The Lyrics -------- The Last Waltz is a song that tells the story of a couple’s last dance. The lyrics are simple yet poignant and capture the emotions of the couple as they dance together for the final time. The song’s opening lines set the tone for the rest of the song: “I wondered should I go or should I stay, The band had only one more song to play” These lines suggest that the couple is at a crossroads, and they are unsure if they should stay together or go their separate ways. However, the last waltz represents a moment of clarity, and the couple realizes that they will cherish this moment forever. Other notable lyrics include: “The floor was filled with couples swaying to and fro, But I stood there watching only you” These lyrics paint a picture of a crowded dance floor, but the couple is only focused on each other. The last waltz is a moment of intimacy and connection, and nothing else matters. The Music -------- The Last Waltz has a beautiful melody that perfectly complements the lyrics. The song’s orchestration includes strings, horns, and a strong rhythm section, which gives the song a timeless quality. The use of strings, in particular, adds a romantic and emotional element to the song, creating a dreamy atmosphere. The song’s tempo is slow, which adds to the romantic and sentimental nature of the song. The Last Waltz is a perfect song for slow dancing, and it’s no surprise that it has become a classic for weddings and other romantic events. The Meaning Behind The Song -------- The Last Waltz is a song that captures the nostalgia and sadness of a final goodbye. The song’s lyrics and melody perfectly encapsulate the bittersweet nature of endings, and how we often cling to fleeting moments of happiness. The song’s themes of love, loss, and memory have resonated with audiences for over 50 years. The Last Waltz serves as a reminder to cherish our moments of happiness and to hold onto them even as they slip away. The Legacy of The Last Waltz -------- The Last Waltz has become a beloved classic, and it continues to be a popular song today.
