The chicken house is definitely not Disney😂 it's from Russian fairytales; it belongs to Baba Yaga, the powerful forest witch (the old hag you see in the trailer) Baba Yaga, Vasilisa the Beautiful, Koshei the Immortal, the Merman and Ilya Muromets are all characters from Russian and Slavic folklore 😊 so all the lil kids grow up with these stories😊 and that's why it got so popular, Disney made a good investment) the same thing that made it popular in Russia will probably stop it from doing well around the world- too many cultural references, American viewers usually don't like diving into those😢

Oh thank you for the info! We are excited about seeing this movie when we have access to it.

Craving Cinematics hehe...its true and not true ;) The chicken house is Baba Yaga's house of course -but the style of the action is definitely Disney,not Russian ;) I know exactly what Johnatan meant ;) Im not sure I would like such a Russian movie exactly because of this-even though all these grear Russian fairy tales characters(Ive grown up with,in commie Bulgaria ;) ) are in it ;)

it is true, chicken leg house from fairytales and legends, here's the proof: early 80's cartoon kzbin.info/www/bejne/qom4aYhvmM-qZtk Did you mean cinematografy and CGI? As a Russian, i didn't like the movie. Disney completely butchered and turned everything upside down. In russian legends and fairytales characters like Koshei(Immortal), Merman, Baba Yaga usually antagonists, the're evil. (Except for Baba yaga, she's sometimes forced to do good things). This is substitution of concepts, which is seen in a lot of movies nowerdays. The movie is basically about the descendant of Ilya Muromets(who is a protagonist in fairytales) in alliance with bad guys has to defeat the long ago established way of life and authority. Which is actually a subliminal message to russian kids. As i think, this movie makes more harm, than it is fun

If craving cinematics wants to see somthing really good that makes you think- watch Elem Klimov's anti-war movie "Come and See", here it is absolutely legal(Mosfilm channel): kzbin.info/www/bejne/pXXUapmCYpJ0rNk kzbin.info/www/bejne/sIqsknePh86jpa8 But warning, this is a very hard to watch movie. From recent movies- i liked Pavel Lungin "The island" 2006 and lots of other good movies.

Baba Yaga is my favorite character as my mom grew up on stories about her. The stories were about Baba Yaga a witch who eats kids, and lives in a house that has chicken legs. yah lol its weird but funny. (its for kids to behave)

The chicken house actually isn't Disney. I would say the Disney style is the light-hearted humor. Russian fairytales are like Grimm tales, and I think it's a perfect blend of the two worlds.

You do know that these animated movies are based on fairytales that Disney simplified and toned down because of their dark and complex elements just to appeal to a modern audience.

As a Bulgarian ,speaking Russian and knowing Russian culture and folklore pretty well,Ive got lots to say here ....But dont have time to write at the moment so Ill be briefer.In short-I would like to yet see the modern Russian counterpart of the Indian Sanjay Leela Bhansali! What I mean is -the Russian cinema has huuuuuge potential culturally ,technologically and in any other way to mesmerize us.Unfortunately most of the modern post-Perestroyka stuff I see,is desperately trying to copy American cinema...And not only in the CGI and the technical stuff(which is still OK!),but in the way of the story telling and the means of expression.What makes it almost unwatchable for me,who has deeply engraved in me the Russian culture and the great Russian movies from the past-like The White Sun of the desert,The Diamond Hand,or the Caucasian captive ;) The few exceptions Ive seen dont make it to me and are rather "OK",than win me hopelessly in the way Sanjay Leela Bhansali does to me! I mean ,when you watch Bhansali-you see India,and its way of thinking!You dont see just Hollywood ,made in India! So-I would like to see Russia made in Russia-not Hollywood/Disney made in Russia! If you know what I mean...
@galimir6 жыл бұрын
Also another phenomenon from the new age in Russian cinema,bothering me.Namely-the female (and male most of the time) characters of the Russian Woman-represented in the new post-Perestroyka Russian cinema.I was unconsciously aware of that even before 2015(when I discovered Bollywood).But after I saw the STUNNING Indian actresses ,like Aishwarya Rai,Priyanka Chopra or Deepika Padukone,representing a purely national ,wholesome and worth,local, Indian home-grown ideal ,I especially became aware of the total failure of the new modern Russian cinema to give us such for Russia! Most (if not all,I confess I haven watched so much of it,cause I simply cant risk more of it,based on what Ive seen so far !) of it ,if not all of the females in the newer Russian movies are these hypersexualized (American style,or rather what-Russians-perceive-as-American style ;) ),cold,calculative bithces and golddiggers,or some powerless party animal types,looking like they gonna die every moment from heavy everyninght overparting and drug abuse ... Or overdramatizing of the desperateness of existance...Or stuff like that.You dont really see the full of life wholesome commie-times Russian cinema type of Russian girls like Nina from the Caucasian captive... This strucks me especially after my mentioned discovery of Bollywood and its heavenly high standards like Aishwarya Rai-incarnating the absolute wholesome ideal of an Indian woman and making millions of Indian girls wanting to be like her!And thats my biggest problem actually-as I know the moral and role model impact the cinema has on the ppl!I dont want more of these cold bitches types in the real Russian life!I want more of wholesome,healthy,sweetly idealistic (and almost naive ;) ) Russian beauties like Nina (there are many others but she just came to my mind now ;) ) in real life! And more of the deeply hearted ,kind and romantic and a bit crazy(but in a nice way!) ,traditional Russia and less of these cold ,immoral ,calculative and mercantile, merciless Hollywood style heroes,or some idiotic clownistic Disney bs... I am not sure if you get my point guys,cause you dont really know the Russia and the Russian cinema Im talking about...But anyways-I tried ;)
@galimir6 жыл бұрын
Like for example this evil guy here from the trailer-I guess he is Kashchey Bessmertnoy(The Immortal).To me he looks more like a Harry Pother ,or a Lord of the Rings character.Or at best-a Russian Kashchey according to what Disney -artist would immagine him,not so much of how a good Russian (with his heart and artistic feeling on the right place!)artist would portray him ;) Im not sure if you understand what Im trying to say?
