This is a documentary i've wanted to watch for a long time, but could never find with english subtitles - so I did it myself. It's an interesting look at the golden generation of Yugoslavian football, before the break-off of Croatia, Slovenia and other nations during the wars of the early 90s

You did the subtitles yourself?! Great work man. I just watched it was a really good watch I remember so many players from this era Suker, Boksic Boban, Mihailović, Milošević etc. Was really cool to look back to this time and see how the players dealt with it. Love your channel keep doing what you do ledge 😎

Thanks for translating and sharing this doc. I thoroughly enjoyed it. As a kid growing up in China, I've always been fascinated by Yugoslavian football. I think you'll really like the 2 magazines published by These Football Times on Eastern European teams in which Yugoslavia was heavily featured.

Nice moment at the end, between Suker and Mihajlovic, but Osim's face afterwards is crushing. As a neutral and football enthusiast, they remain the biggest "what if" in football history.
@vitodoriacalcio6 ай бұрын
I agree. Yugoslavia had strong teams in the past but footballing and non-footballing reasons held them back. That team around 1990 and 1992 was stacked and it seemed that they were going to add to that 1960 Olympic Gold medal as well as put the ghosts of Euro '60 and '68 to rest.

Thanks Souster for this video, I've been here for more than 4 years for the Arsenal content, however I started watching these men way before I would meet Arsenal so it's extremely interesting for me to see how things unfolded for all of these great football players.

What happened in Yugoslavia was an unimaginable tragedy. Can you imagine living with your neighbours for decades and then suddenly waking up, not knowing whether to betray them, before they betray you. Both versions of Yugoslavia could not withstand Croatian nationalism. But no one was thinking about all the mixed marriages, like Sinisa's parents, who identified as Yugoslavs.
@vitodoriacalcio6 ай бұрын
28:57 Osim probably thought that because that 1990 squad had a decent Bosnian contingent regardless if they were Bosniaks, Bosnian Serbs, or Bosnian Croats. After all, Osim was coach, Vujovic was captain, and there was Jozic, Hadzibegic, Susic, Baljic, and Sabanadzovic. If he wanted to, he probably could have picked Sliskovic and Bazdarevic. In saying all that, the Yugoslavia team from 1990 until 1992 had a good balance of players from all the different republics.

That's the netherlands team of 1990, yugoslavias opponents in that game. Frank Rijkaard & Ruud Gullit are the two black players, two of the best ever midfielders and in a netherlands team who had recently won the 1988 european championships. The yugoslav team was shown right after

@@souster98 I understand, thank you for the effort. The subs are sort of a shortened, oversimplified and do not catch the note or point. With complicated and layered subject like this , viewer or listener simply lose to much. The subject and content gets watered down. It's like me asking you how are you, you answer with a complete sentence - but the translation says "I'm good". (or as a native speaker, maybe I understand/see or hear too much). Anyway thank you for the content and your time invested! P.S. On 13th of may 1990, we visited family friends that live next to the stadium for lunch. Just after the meal the host asked my father: "Shall we go to the stadium?". Just looking out the window from 5th floor ... you could smell trouble. We decided to skipp that one😉. I was around 12 years old at the time. It was over for SFRJ, only those that kept their head in the sand didn't realise it. Peace out!
