Thank you for this! The community has been ignored for far too long. Time to make real changes on how we interact with our officials besides "box-checking" zoom meetings and ignored emails to elected officials. Please sign the petition as well. Numbers count.

27 year old East Boston resident here. I lived in Philadelphia and New York before Boston. Boston is by far the most corrupt city out of the three. The government really doesn't care about the city. They spend so much money on these terrible projects because of the corruption. Sumner tunnel, white stadium, shutting down the nuclear power plant and spending billions on getting power from Canada. It is insane, I talk to all my friends and some of them don't even know the mayor's name. Keep making your videos! You are the only one talking about it.

The nature of the problem is when Politicians like Wu, Martin etc. work for "Private interests" rather than the people's interest

Also, when residents are being told their property taxes will increase - wouldn’t it be in taxpayers interest for city hall to stay within a budget!

I have little optimism anyone at Boston City Hall or Beacon Hill looks at anything analytically. They simply do not make a decision, look at the results and correct accordingly and they certainly do not act as though they represent the interests of the people they serve, only their party. Operating behind closed doors and in the darkness is where the decisions are made, the people are only in the way of their decisions. Boston City government plays the same games the State legislature does.

Im going to subscribe. Im 20 minutes outside of Boston and i would love to tslk to you about what i finally discovered. My name is Elizabeth and I am waiting to expose what is happening of our tax money!! Its slot! Please let me know if you have time to talk. Ty! Elizabeth

During my election process, I found most people were completely checked out of politics. Those that were involved were very vocal. I have been pushing for greater outreach at the local level for a long time. If there was a system that was difficult to abuse, I can see good output. Unfortunately, most people don't speak up until they see a problem or are negatively impacted by new legislation. Regarding products, that results in better products, regarding laws, it results in 2 or 3 years of discussions and nothing getting done. Government is supposed to move slow and Home Rule needs to be reestablished
@mikeurban

I agree with you John. Unfortunately, people are mentally AFK to politics until it personally affects them, their neighborhood, or mainly, their pocket books. I think there's going to be a major paradigm shift over the next 5 to 10 years on the way the election process is handled. There has to be a way to capture a younger audience and get their feedback and support as well as an older audience, but make it more accessible where public opinion is heard and matters

@mikeurban just saw an article that looks like the DPU has been allowed to make changes that once again unconstitutionally attack Home Rule for town planning boards and zoning regulations. DPU and Energy Siting Board can grant permits to build solar and limit response time from towns and affected citizens in order to dump natural gas and other energy forms in favor of solar and wind. So, in essence, they will continue unabated to destroy the ecology of SE Massachusetts.

First, When land is designated as a park, I thought it was untouchable? if they start taking parks and cutting down trees, it goes against the designation of conservation land in our city. So much for the tree canopy concern as well. If you take this land then any other park land will be up for grabs to the highest bidder.

My question is: Where did the funds go for white stadium maintenance and upgrades over the last 40 years? You had Mayor Menino, Mayor Walsh and now Mayor Wu. There needs to be an Audit of the previous administration's previous efforts to maintain and upgrade the stadium.

Saying “it will increase traffic” is not good enough. The proper response should be something like the following I’ve been working in the transportation, industry, nearly all my life here in Massachusetts. I currently work for a limousine company. And I commute on top of that. Massachusetts is nothing like what it used to be. Rush-hour now starts from 2 to 7. That means bumper-to-bumper nearly everywhere. That means mass Pike, 128, route 1 and 93. The traffic in the cities surrounding these highways is even more of a joke. It’s been getting worse and worse. That means people get less sleep. That means we are less productive. We are spending more time sitting on the roads. These are the oldest roads in our country. There is absolutely no way to expand the infrastructure.

For those curious, where White Stadium is today was an area designated by Olmsted as "The Playsted". This was an open field to be used for schoolboy sports. In the late 1940s White Stadium was built using the George White funds, which was an endowment set up by White to be used for "works of public utility". Parking will be crazy since the "Giraffe" entrance to the Zoo is right next to it.

What if the plan is not to have the community participate? In 1990 Roxbury was 90% Black, today it's 50% Black. What do you think the percentage will be when they build this and the bus line on Blue Hill Ave.? I think the Social Engineers are hard at work.

They do these projects only thinking about how many people they can get into them. They never deal with the parking or travel to and from the stadium, and when people that live around the stadium charge people to park on their property they get shut down for making it easier for people, while also making a little bit of money. No one makes money in Massachusetts unless Massachusetts is making money

Aren't there any laws prohibiting a mayor acting without oversight in regards to financial matters? Is the City Council totally useless? How does prop 2 1/2 fit into this madness? Cut down trees, but build bike lanes that no one uses. Ignore the water distribution infrastructure and have constant flooding. Made sense probably, to Nero.
