Hi! Iam born in Wuppertal and have grown up with our Schwebebahn, riding with it for like 20years now. Iam very excited because this is the very first time ive ever seen another suspension railway. Its so intresting to see another system and looking for differences. Thanks for this video! I'd be glad to visit Japan one day to see Chiba Urban Monorail with my own eyes!

You might also like the shonan monorail (Also Japan)... it's built into mountains and has sharp turns, ups and downs and tunnels... the ride is shaky and REALLY bouncy :D
Another cool monorail video! Love it when you're flying over the cars! LOTS of views on this one too. Great stuff. Ted-san

Verdaderamente da pánico del ruido a latas que hace. Parece que va a caer en cualquier momento. Saludos desde Buenos Aires, Argentina. It really scares the noise of cans it makes. It seems that it will fall at any moment. Greetings from Buenos Aires, Argentina.
I am also from Wuppertal, Germany. We have such a system since before 1900. This here system seems to have quiet non metal wheels as were the Wuppertal system is noisy steel on steel. Not so good to live next to it. These suspended systems are very safe and much faster and safer than ground transport.

@@MrWalker1000 Easier and less costly than the original overhead elevated lines. They also provide more sunlight to get to the street level. To see our "L" trains, search for Chicago CTA system, they have made Cab VIEW Rides of all the "L" (ELEVATED" and subways lines..

Thanks for posting. Am I right the stations before the interchange must be from the original line as the look very dated? Those little, high windows are in stark contrast to the panoramic outlook from the vehicles as shown by the video.

We need this in the U.S. I wish developers were innovative or simply just go away from the same old boring norm and look upon gaining tourist attractions alongside domestic ridership. This is something that needs to be built here in Baltimore, MD.

Sad thing is the United States used to have one of the greatest rail transportation system's in the world but everything rapidly declined between the 1960s and 1980s with the development of the interstate and popularization of air travel. Now we are too poor and can't build anything anymore so good luck updating the US rail transportation system. Fun Fact: Most of those lines in your city of Baltimore were probably built 100 years ago by either the Pennsylvania Railroad or the Baltimore and Ohio railroad as both built lot's of trackage around there. The entire Northeast Corridor between New York City and Washington D.C. was originally owned by the Pennsylvania, then Penn Central owned it, and eventually obtained by Amtrak.
@MrWalker10005 жыл бұрын
@@FRailFan dang the US had the best rail network in the world for public passengers? it seems like the US has been in decline for a long time people have been sleeping for a while it seems. the US favors private enterprise and people would rather drive cars than pay for public transport.

In hilly Japan, this sort of monorail makes sense: The terrain goes up an down, but the monorail track stays at the same level. This saves energy and makes for a more comfortable ride. It also avoids that most Japanese of things, Traffic jams.
@lohphat4 жыл бұрын
It's interesting that there's two tracks between stations to allow simultaneous trains in both directions between stations, but I didn't see a lot of opposing traffic. The other systems only allow passing at stations as there's only one track between stations. There must have been a reason to make the extra expense in building it that way as it's not cheap to do since the box design needs a lot of steel.
@lars79353 жыл бұрын
I think the video was taken during the off peak hours where less trains run.

@zam0237 жыл бұрын
The wheel is clamped inside the rail. Take a look at your curtain rail. See how the rollers seat inside the rail, the train uses the same idea . It is not going to fall off anytime soon. The only way for the train to fall to the ground is if the whole rail and support came down with it. And those rail and support looks solid to me.

yep, monorails have rubber tyres so less noise and less shake. Also the train clamps to the rail so less chance of derailment

Can somebody explain why we can read "conductorless" on the front window, although it's not a conductorless train ?! Maybe it was at a certain time in the past ?
@akthkltcoe8 жыл бұрын
Conductorless (ワンマン) means there is no train conductor but a train driver. If there are completely no people to drive the train, then it is auto-drive むじん(無人).
@akthkltcoe8 жыл бұрын
also in most of the ワンマン列車(conductorless train), the train driver will do the job of train conductor (controlling the doors, monitor the status of platform, special announcement, etc.)
i wonder how the people will move out if they get stuck in the drain in the event of train malfunctioned, to compare with conventional system where people can get out from the train..
It is still a point to point fixed length carrier on scheduled runs. A true PRT would be much better.
