1:34 this was _so_ fascinating. A cool idea, that “magical powers” were actually scientific phenomena and humans just didn’t know how to use those abilities anymore, but Jobe learned how.

But it doesn't make sense though. If there was a creature in the far, far past with such abilities, why hasn't there been a single human being in recent history that showed such powers?

I always liked The Lawnmower Man. Sure its ripe with 90's cheese and Stephen King disowned it, this still straight up feels like a story he would write. And it DID predict humanity's over reliance on technology. I also noticed Luc Besson's Lucy shares a lot in common with this film.

To think that a slow guy can become one of the most intellegent. What he said is true in my opinion, nothing is new that we have been doing. It is even written in the Bible "there is nothing new under the sun" . the Romans invented cement and concrete back in the days of the Colosseum. yet the technology was lost and not rediscovered until the 1700's. we still cant explain properly how the Pyramids were built. or why and what their purpose was. ( and they just werent massive tombs for the Pharaoh's) look at the engineering behind the ancient Mayan temples and how they have blocks cut so precisely you cant put a piece of paper between them. and this is just 3 of countless examples that have been discovered all across the globe that even the worlds best scientists and archaeologists still cannot grasp, or explain the technology that is behind them. we have lost more to time than we have learned. if perhaps we had still had possession of the knowledge of the ancients, and not let it slip from our grasp through time we may have been far more advanced as a species than we are today. why have we lost it? we'll never know, either how or why.perhaps it was taken from us for a reason, and for our own protection, or perhaps it was just lost due to our pride and our tendency to scoff at and mock advances that we make... but looking around at the world today and watching all that is unfolding before our eyes I can see it is a time that we could really do with it now, but also the wisdom to use it in a way to benefit every human being on the planet. not enslave and exploit them, but rather to set them free.

You are right but I think modern people never learned how to master powers because people in the past knew how dangerous these powers really were so they buried the truth and Mankind lost those powers because they were never taught to the future generations of humans. it is not a case of us being weak its a case of our forefathers being afraid powers like that would be abused and even end the world because people mostly fall under Personal Gain and that leads to the downfall of all human kind. It's possible it happened in the past as well destroying cultures rarely heard of today.

The only flaw with this film is that the producers invested to much into CGI and not enough into practical special effects. Granted, the CGI technology at the time was high grade. But they underestimated how the visual effects would age as the technology would evolve. But the films plot was very good and performances of Jeff Fahey and Pierce Brosnan were outstanding.

They say we only use 10% of our brain. This means for most people that there is 90% that has not been tapped into.
