It's hard getting old when you're a punk rocker. This song is brilliant.

The Lawrence Arms just totally hit home... Every song is just beautifully soul-shattering. One of the few bands I can say I love their entire discography

Their first two albums are *okay* but other than that, I totally agree!

As I get older this song gets more depressing and/or relatable, sometimes both in equal amounts. I don't dislike it for that, I embrace it. It gets better with each listen, and I learn from it and build upon it. It's the gift that keeps on giving. It's a song I can see staying by my side for the remainder of my life and I'll always come back to it for sure as it means oh so much.

All of my favorite songs come from the Lawrence Arms. This one included. Thanks TLA!

I think TLA are the only band ive ever seen live who as soon as the show ended just jumped off the stage and walked straight into the crowd to chat and hang with them. That was pretty amazing.

When this song came out the intro to this song turned me off from TLA entirely, now I'm in my mid 30's and my beard is turning gray. It all makes sense.

I never wanted to die old, But it's too late now, My heart has grown so cold. And the corpse I leave behind Ain't gonna be, No pretty boy It's a sick sack of disease. We thought about Ways we'd love to go. High and beautiful, And fucking in the snow. On New Years Day or Christmas Eve, On a warm November night buried beneath the orange leaves. It's a few dreams on the ways that we could leave. My heart got kicked out of all its homes, And dying young just didn't work and so I guess I'm dying old And there ain't nowhere left to go, 'Cause all my loves would rather be alone. And yesterday I woke up to find, The black in my beard had turn to white. And the pretty girls that used to smile at me, Just stared off straight ahead or looked down at their feet. So tonight I'll sit up here With these street lights and these seventeen beers. Straight from the page of a teenage diary, Underneath these shitty stars like I was seventeen. (I mean) That my heart got kicked out of all its homes, And dying young just didn't work and so I guess I'm dying old And there ain't nowhere left to go, 'Cause all my loves would rather be alone. And there ain't nowhere left to go, 'Cause all my loves would rather be alone.

God I wish I could sing like Brendan. I dunno I find voices like his, Cobain's, McIlrath from Rise Against, Laura Grace from Against Me, Jason Shevchuk from None More Black, there's something special about all their voices, like a roughness or gravelly quality to them, that I wish I had.

I understand what you’re saying but at the same time nobody’s the same so to each their own. I’ve seen really terrible results when people push or rush moving on from just about anything that life throws at them. Be patient, please
