The most animated piano player! Joe Ann Castle is always a delight to watch and hear playing piano!

Because of seeing and hearing Jo Ann Castle on the Lawrence Welk Tv show I learned about Ragtime and Scott Joplin and the great Ragtime composers. Hearing her play Maple Leaf Rag led me to discover and read Rudi Blesh book They All Played a Ragtime and I later joined the Maple Leaf Club that had monthly meetings with Ragtime pianists including one meeting where Eubie Blake was guest artist and played. Jo Ann Castle got me started on my appreciation of Ragtime decades before the movie The Sting and Marvin Hamlish.

Everyone plays this way too fast. Joplin even said, steady, not fast. Try it at .75 much better except for the distortion.

Too fast ! Too fast ! She is a great piano player, but it would be more pleasant for the audience and for the tune if it was played more slowly. For the listeners to perceive every single note !

Jo Ann Castle could have wiped the floor with Art Tatum. Tatum is nothing compared to her.
