I hope this sets the template for all ‘second edition’ Free League books - books that push the game forward in some way rather than simply a rehash and tweaking of a previous rulebook. This way I can be excited about committing to the next version rather than dismayed. Hopefully MYZ and Symbaroum et all next editions will be propelled similarly by forward movement in the game background. Long and short of it, I’m excited for this new edition of Coriolis.

So overall I think that was highly informative - I now have a really good grasp of the intent of the new game and indeed some hints at how it adapts the old ruleset for the new setting. The most clear thing that came through both interviews is how excited Costa and Nils are for this, it felt like a real labor of love moment. I like the idea of the smaller campaigns focussed around solving a mystery. I also like the idea of the Base Ship / exploration divide. It feels very much like a game who is building on the Mutant logic and extending it to space. I understand the ship is not an Ark, but it is a home base where players will be dragged into factional and political interactions it seems. When not on the ship they will go forth to solve fundamental mysteries of the setting and recover supplies for both their own and the ship's survival. I love the idea of The Terror as the inspiration, the long journeys into the unknown and the sense of isolation and to large extent self reliance that drives, the comments for Gear from Costa were telling in this regard making it clear if you can't find it you will need to kitbash it. I also really like the idea that the Darkness Between the Stars is still around in this setting, creating the idea of lingering forces from past civilizations which are really here to destroy you all. Overall sounds like a game well worth playing, I think the its a return to the heartland of Free League (With a combination of Mutant and Coriolis vibes) using their own very exciting IP. I am all in on this one

Spaceship-City sounds like a great home base for a “west marshes” style game

Sounds cool, but also sounds like Forbidden Lands in the Coriolis space system style. I really like Forbidden Lands, but yet.... I'm excited and we'll see! Thanks for all the info!! 👊🤓

Great new format (Ellinor is a wonderful host!) and great content (I'm very excited for Coriolis TGD). One point of constructive criticism - could you please add chapters to this video and future videos? Makes it hard to watch and come back to (for reference) without them. Tack!

Yeah I did that more than a few times with the old FL Updates, but I really don't want to keep doing that myself!

This sounds intriguing; I'm looking forward to the Kickstarter. As an aside, I'm not a fan of reading through the Coriolis: The Third Horizon books due to the graphic design - I find it too dark and cluttered. Normally, I get most RPG books in PDF for use on my iPad, but the art, graphic design, and layout of Vaesen, Tales from the Loop, and The One Ring are so nice, clean, and elegant that I bought the hardback books - they are quite nice to physically hold and read through. (Sometimes I just look through them for the design and presentation 😁) I hope this new Coriolis project, while different from the fantasy theme of these lines, still incorporates some of their Free League Publishing elegance.

I'm so excited to play this! Will there be solo rules? Sounds like it would work well for forbidden lands style solo rules or twighlight 2000.

So... Why Coriolis ep. 1 is broken? It really don't provide enough things for PC development? And why does the main campaign breaking the game? Without spoilers please, as I still hope to play it someday.
@jahoodunrama11 ай бұрын
It's not broken, the XP cost for leveling up skills/gaining talents is just a tad too low and only becomes apparent in longer games or games that have a lot of sessions. XP is dealt out at the end of each session. There are a few modifications that the community prefers.

Indeed, Coriolis 1e isn't broken. But you're right that the Mercy of the Icon campaign changes the Third Horizon setting. So moving this 2e into a different place to make it work chronologically is really a very logical thing to do from a game design perspective. You could continue playing the 1e after the events of the campaign, but we won't be getting any official material for it. This 2e ruleset might even work quite well for it. I won't say more as it might spoil the 1e.

The new game is becoming more and more disappointing. It doesn't look interesting at all. And it’s very disappointing that because of this they will stop supporting Coriolis: The Third Horizon. I was hoping for new mechanics, mysticism expansion books, and new campaigns, not to mention a second edition. I don't like Free League's policy of endlessly creating new games, neglecting its old ones.
@JonathanPay11 ай бұрын
I hate to say it, but that's how to thrive in this industry. Supplemental products are just not as lucrative from a business perspective. What they will be doing is opening up the licence beyond the Workshop on DTRPG though so that those of us in the community can keep building on The Third Horizon (and The Great Dark too). It will be similar to the dragon bane open licence.
@erikriggiola67808 ай бұрын
Completely disagree. This is not throwing aside the old game it is adding a whole new era to it which is brilliant. The idea of capturing the universe after 200 years and encountering the 4th/Lost Horizon is incredible. The other game is still right there if you want it. There's a ton of stuff for it at Drivethru rpg in addition to everything directly from Free League. And you can homebrew to your heart's content. I don't understand your disappointment at all. This is all great news.
