One of the bigger suprises for me is K’sante just having wholesome lore. Like, he has a former lover… that isn’t Dead? They’ve both looked back on their relationship fondly? They’re happy for each other?? In any other circumsizes I’d expect k’sante to be revenge driven to kill all halfscended monsters because riot didn’t want the gay man to have a partner and just chucked the man under a monster. I’m unsure about his gameplay, I’ve heard people say he’s bad, but I barely play league Nowadays and the one time I ran into him I proceeded to have a truly horrible time playing against.

tf x graves ended with "hes handsome but lets not go further" which isnt bad but also doesnt make them a thing The lovers in varus are resisting the complete corruption of the darkin in a shared body leona x diana is absolutely a tragedy lee sin and udyr are heavily hinted at which is fun but it doesnt go full canon like ksante its not as bleak as the first comment make it sound but its also straight up wholesome with no strings attached

The biggest problem with Bel'veth, she was released the same year as Xolaani was in Legends of Runeterra, and Xolaani is everything Bel'veth says she is but actually done right while being 10 times cooler. Edit: Honestly after thinking about it, most of my issues with Belveth can be traced to Legends of Runeterra executing a concept about her better in something else, because overtime Belveth's design just started to lose interest to me. Like good on Riot for making something more monsterious instead of less, but in Belveth's case I think they went the wrong direction because nothing about a giant string ray reads Empress of the Void for me, and the Hive Herald in LoR shows that they could have kept the humanoid design but made it monsterious and creey at the same time. Plus a design like the Herald could have had some cool gameplay that fit her lore. They could keep some of the stabbing by using the Herald's tails but also focus some void minions summoning from her ult (a part of the ult which is sadly useless in it current form despite being one of the few parts of the kit that matches her lore) in seperate abilities and possibly keep her ult but with a few changes.

Not to dishearten you or anything, just my 2 cents : don't latch on to "outlearning" the game too much. Not in the sense that you want to learn new champions or mechanics, experience unique interactions whilst having fun but in a sense that you shouldn't take these aspects too far. You'll only go for so long playing a champion like Fiddlesticks and memeing "get stickbugged". If you try to take it even minimally seriously you'll fall flat into the "50/50 matches syndrome" of only having fun if you're satisfied with a win or with how you played in said match. With all that said I do hope you find your pefect role in the game and ignore any and all glaring issues the game or its community have! But, on a more serious note and all jokes aside, some really good advice : stay yourself and please don't follow the meta, no matter what anyone says (with no inting in mind haha 😅). So yeah, welcome and have fun!

Renata was the highlight because she's actually what your support wants to do but are only allowed to do until the "killed too many ADCs" achievement unlocks for that champion. This is also called "Tactical Nerf Incoming" or "DPS Handkerchief Patch". She's a revenge support - the thing that made Morde and, still on rare occasions, Sett so scary. She's the solo support's weapon where, it doesn't matter how well you best her ADC, you still need to beat _her._ And the thing people usually underestimate about said Solo Supports is that, like Solo Junglers, they learn how to turn a game while having to drag around a load because you can always bet one person on your team gave up 7 minutes in. Renata fulfills the fantasy of old Morde Support Mains marking the 1v9 ADC for death, and getting their phantom to take out their team and two towers - except she can go, "Be a dear, give me my Baron Buff and then destroy each other." And walk if off like this Watchmen and her plan was enacted the moment you chose to _let her live._ It satisfies the Old Overwatch, Mercy 5-Man Res after the enemy just shot their loads to delete your team - that special kind of Support F-U that comes from, "You let me live - you're going to see why that was a mistake when my team kicks in your teeth." Anyways, Renata supports a support power fantasy that Riot seemed adamant about avoiding so I'm glad she exists.

Nilah is definitely one of my favorites since she also draws from Southern Indian culture which isn’t usually shown when people cover Indian characters. Considering the culture there, her character fits pretty well and its a shame Riot didn’t explore that more in their article on her.

Zeri and Renata are probably my favorite release of 2022. Zeri cause she was pretty much one of the few ADC’s I truly enjoy playing even when she was bad. Renata cause everything about her is fun for me gameplay, visuals, and lore.

The problem with Zeri is that the balance team does not know how to balance an adc caster champion. Imagine if ezreal had more power to his q than his autos and the q CD was 1,5 secs going lower with its current cooldown reduction. This would be a balance nightmare. Now imagine that in Zeri that has more mobility and can buff her autos. They clearly don't see that the problem is the free infinite stack mobility. If they really wanted to fix her they would switch places between her q and r and would heavily nerf the mobility in her new q

And even then while yes the mobility was annoying (idk what they did but I don't feel it as much anymore) previously the problem was the insane range on q while still dealing damage. So they nerfed the damage, but that made her too bad. I like how they changed her now with the lower range but more damage trade off, since it will now be easier to balance her, and it will introduce a bigger gap between a good zeri and a bad one (that being the ability to kite and do it well)

(Edit because I’m not sure if other people knew what SEA meant, but it refers to South East Asia) I've said this before on a TB Skyen video, but I'll just say it again. They could've done so much more with the Filipino representation for Zeri. As charming as she is, something that really stands out to me (an a lot of the Filipino playerbase) is the choice to give her a Filipino accent despite being from Zaun (who are already coded to have British or American accents). It just doesn't make sense for someone who was born, raised, and lives in a place surrounded by British and American accents to have a Filipino accent (Viktor and Fiora don't really count since they were made and released before Runeterra was even properly written and they had to be put somewhere). To us, it's like if someone grew up in America, but has a Chinese accent, it doesn't make much sense. On that note, what they could have done (and what a lot of Filipino players would have wanted) would be to introduce another region based on south east asia and have Zeri be the representation of an OFW (basically Filipinos who work overseas and send back money and goods to provide for their families). It would have done so much more representation as opposed to just slapping an accent on her and calling it a day.

I'm pretty sure riot has said somewhere that they're ignoring storytelling logic for the sake of racial diversity, and I think they're doing a similar thing with accents. Like does it make sense for every region to be a racial melting pot? Probably not, but one can suspend their disbelief for the sake of representation. The same applies to accents. And while I agree that the best form of representation would probably be a unique region (that can hopefully be shown in great detail in LoR card arts) having Zeri be an immigrant who's sending money back to her family wouldn't make sense with the current story riot is trying to tell with her. It's not an easy swap, she'd have to be completely rewritten.

I'm not gonna lie, Nilah is probably my new favorite champion in the whole game. I've been playing since 2014, and I've bounced around a lot on identity, started in mid, loved jungle for years, but now i cant stop queueing bot. nilah really tickles my brain just right. I love samira's gameplay too, but what I prefer about nilah is that your decision making isn't always so clean cut. Ulting as fast as possible is the correct choice on samira 99% of the time, but nilah can slow play, or be her own engage. On Nilah, microdecisions aren't just about getting your ult off. And to be honest, what first got me to give her an honest try was her lore. Her design on a surface level seemed uninspired, but I'm genuinely so charmed by this exuberant monster hunter who is unable to feel anything but joy. She laughs in the face of danger... and also everything else. It's another wonderfully unique interpretation for a runeterra demon that sets it apart from your stereotypical pseudo Christian concepts. I consider ashlesh to be up there with kench and fiddle aesthetically, I hope someday we'll get art of his true form. Runeterra is probably my only hope in that vein. I would also personally pay riot for a story where she and yone meet when hunting the same demon. The idea of the dark and somber azakana hunter being forced to cooperate with the embodiment of joy would be a very entertaining dynamic I think. Fingers crossed my girl gets herself a decent skin soon! Not a fan of the SG

If we ignore the ryze level of balance issues i absolutely love zeri. For me its like playing a caster adc. And since i already primarely played mages bot Lane she was made for me. The sivir midscope is kind of an example of the past mini reworks you’ve talked about, being pretty minimal changes while also changing how people play the champion entirely. Sivir used to be a dark harvest assassin that would one shot you with a q if you weren’t looking. Now shes an actual adc that simply doesn’t feel the same as old sivir, especially the spell shield restoring health and not mana anymore.

Are you insane? Champs we got this year are the biggest failures i have ever seen. Zeri unplayable or unbeatable and has trash lore, Belveth overtuned, has so many unnecessary things to her kit and her lore is pointless, like she will ever beat the fking Watchers, equals to Aurelion Sol. Renata is the only good one. And Ksante has every ability in the game and his whole indentity revolves about being gay. He is a monster hunter, now forget everything you know about him and compare Rengar and Ksante. Who looks more like a true hunter? Some black dude with weird weapons and clothing from Shurima or the Killash adorned with bones of his preys and wields a gut spilling, throat cutting knife (Kirai saber) and arm blades. Also whose gameplay is more like a hunter. Rengars lore is also amazing compared to him. Look how bad designed those champions are. Renata is the only unique one.

As main ADC, I was very excited to play Zeri and Nilah, but in the end, one became an unplayable toaster that would tickle you slightly when dropped in the bathtub, and the other made me play Samira for the next 2 months after Nilah's release. For the next champs, there wasn't much of a difference, aside from Udyr. I didn't play him before the rework because I started playing 3 years ago and mostly I only played ADC then. So I haven't tried to play him after the rework either. Renata is one of the best supports and I really liked playing her, it's a pity that I played her when they released Bel'veth which is a bit late. Bel'veth is cool and not cool, I don't really have a way to describe my experience with her. And K'Sante... yeah, it's more about I don't like tanks that much.

As a Wr player, im very excited for Zeri’s release, just because she is what got me interested in League. It started with set 6.5 of Tft where my fav carry was her. Every game I tried to force debonair or sniper comps just to be able to play her and since I dont play games on pc, I decided to download Wr and fell in love with the game but felt like something was missing, and that was her. I wanted to have the same fun with her in that game too, so I waited for about 7 months which isnt that much compared to how much other people have waited or are still waiting for their fav characters but still a lot for me. I think the variety of adcs in Wr is very low so she will also add another unique type of adc people can enjoy. Other than that I enjoyed this vid very much and I would love to see Nilah and renata from the 2022 roster in Wr. Looking forward to more vids in the future!

Rell has a pretty disappointing hit but her release wasn't framed as "a major turning point" in League's story. Bel'veth is the Void's current big bad, the monster that will take everyone, even the voidborn to stop. Malzahar, Kai'sa and Kassadin's whole lore lead up to her release and set up for an epic story. @@nicoaraeduard3317 It's happening if we need it or not. Unless Riot plans to drop a story arc along side OTHER Ruination type end of the world scenarios, The Void Invasion story arc is happening. I just hope they treat it better than they treated the Ruination event but that crushed my hope in Riot's narratives going forward. The Shadow Isles is my favorite and it freaking sucked seing that event go down in flames.

My favorite champ from this year is def k'sante. I'm a very aggro player, but since I dislike playing tanks or bruisers I'd avoid playing toplane if possible. With K'sante, I have a fun and complex champion with massive outplay potential that combines the fun aspects of being a tank and dealing a lot of damage

Okay, I need to say this about Bel'veth *somewhere*. Yes, her design is split between humanoid and monstrosity, but that's the point! She is a piece of the Void - monstrous, unfeeling, pure entropy - tainted by the humans she has devoured. Nicky's point about her pride being inherited from humanity hints at this. I've heard criticisms that, if she can mind control people, then why the humanoid disguise? Because she has inherited the notion of royalty and superiority from her prey, and thus moulded herself a body fit to ape the nobility of an *Empress* - she feels that she deserves it, she deserves to be something both adored and feared. The head should look disjointed and at odds with her monstrous body - on the Rift she's in full battle mode constantly, not trying to be imperious or sneaky, but a frothing feral beast, looking down on those she kills. The alien look of her human head on that body shows us the delusion that she is under, she pretends to be an queen but cannot see the insanity of the lies she tells herself. It's entirely possible I'm giving her design too much credit, but this has always been what I saw in her, a mad beast believing itself an Empress of entropy, a devourer draped in the sensibilities of human royalty. The whole JoJo stingray thing is maybe a bit much though.

Regarding Bel’Veth’s gameplay being off from her character, I initially agreed, but after looking into her character, I actually think it fits. She believes herself to be above all other voidborn and seems to view herself as a master manipulator and all that, but at the end of the day, even if she doesn’t accept it, she’s a void born monstrosity. She doesn’t attack you with psychic abilities or magic as her perception of herself would imply, she kills you with overwhelming, savage brute force in accordance to her true nature.

the similarity between samira and nilah is more like a similarity between jhin and jinx. Jhin and jinx both have an auto attack passive, a wave clear on q, a skill shot shaped like a line on the w, a trap on e and an ult that can hit you from two scenes away. Even though the moves seem similar they play really differently. For Jhin and Jinx, one does slow but heavy shots and the other does a quick burst of shots that don't do a lot of damage. New Udyr really grown on me. At first I was a little bit disappointed that stances were not felt as stances at all and Phoenix was a miles ahead over tiger. But after some huge balance tweaks and new items (literally all of them works good on him) you got a champs who can have bunch of different funny playstyles. When Trick - dude who played old Udyr for 13 years liked rework , you know that riot done well here.
