Man, I really feel bad for Laurie. When everything fell apart, she did what she knew: trying to help people. And yet, she had to be witness to both Nora and Kevin doing something that would probably kill them, without any hope of seeing them again.

Laurie loved the lighter so much she picked it up from gutter in S1, and literally fought Nora for that the previous day. Yet she gave it to Kevin. I have a theory for it. She wanted Kevin to make it out of that mess, to come out safe. She's willing to sacrifice something she loves so much, holds close to her heart and give it to Kevin, almost in a child-like manner. I thought it was beautiful.

I watched all of The Leftovers back in 2018 after going through a really awful breakup with my fiancee. I'd tried to watch it earlier but didn't quite vibe with it but after the breakup this show just wrecked me. I watched all three seasons in a binge and this is the scene that stays with me the most. The way Kevin says "Will you stay?" at 1:05, the hint of desperation, reminds me so much of what it was like going through a breakup that this scene still destroys me.
@Cazanator60007 жыл бұрын
If Kevin said he was scared than she wouldnt have gone 'scuba diving' same with John wanting Kevin to possibly come in contact with Evie in the afterlife. Her interactions with them this episode shown that her reason for this is that she believes she has no purpose, her being therapist (originally) it was in her nature to help people but because John and Kevin already had their paths set without the need for her to be there, has drove her to become suicidal again. Jill ringing laughing and giggling with Tom only reaffirms her thought process. This episode was magical. Arguably the best of the Leftovers.

Caldor3 so she felt like people have their own path and because she had the need to help others and felt that her job is done she did what she did in the end ?i loved the episode but I still don't get way she made that decision
@SwobyJ7 жыл бұрын
It wasn't the single cause Alki. It was the removal of the barrier that was always there. We know she was a wreck post-Departure, but this episode we learn she was suicidal before joining the GR. With the barrier removed, no cause to carry, she is done.

I just realized that when Nora tells Laurie the beach ball story she ask her to tell them she's done it, but then Laurie ask her for a dollar, but take her cigarettes instead, as in exchange for helping her in reliving her pain and she says she's officially her patient now. Maybe as some kind of agreement on privacy (the doctor-patient kind) so she can't say anything. And you can clearly see here that she doesn't quite answer what Kevin expects when he asks her if Nora's gone, and in the scene where Kevin confronts Nora in the future about how he found her, we know then that actually Matt was the one who told him she was gone. Maybe because she was looking out for Nora, and knew and comprehended that she doesn't needed to tell anyone why she did it and she was doing the right choice for herself, just helping her as a good therapist and a friend would do. ;_;

I know a lot of people had problems with the ending of The Leftovers but I felt that we were never going to see every character reach happiness. Few films have left me Sat watching the credits at the end, staring in to space, questioning everything, oozing emotion. This show achieved it every episode, in spades. Best series I’ve ever seen to date, and it’ll be infinitely difficult to beat. The score by Max Richter is absolutely brilliant. The same theme amplifies any mood but maintains maturity and delicacy. Absolutely superb. Arguably one of the most underrated shows. If it was new to Netflix in 2022, it’d be trending no.1 for sure. Sky shows tend to fall more under the radar, similar to Boardwalk Empire. Shame.

Fucking amazing scene! Sadly, Laurie is most certainly dead.. This show has always been overtly religious and this episode confirmed that Laurie is Judas. She kisses Kevin on the cheek and then kills herself/drowns herself à la Judas.. The other confirming fact is when Kevin tries to give her lighter back, Laurie responds "I quit" which is a double entendre.. Laurie couldn't help anyone else so she "quit".
