The little girl represented Patty's emotional maturity. Some people that have experienced trauma at a young age can be stunted emotionally for the rest of their lives. IMO Ann Dowd was robbed of the best actress Emmy for her performance in this show.

She definitely deserves an award for this role!

I think what Patti said last season about them being living reminders, and using Gladys and her violent death as an example where people couldn't forget her, by taking her own life in front of Kevin she knew she would stick with him and imprint on him in a way, which clearly worked. Combined with his underlying mental health issues causing her to now appear to him, although I don't think it's her actual ghost or anything, just the trauma mixed with his delusions. This whole episode felt very allegorical and was about Kevin dealing with that trauma, putting it behind him, and humanizing and sympathizing with Patti as a person, based on things Laurie probably told him about her--since she was her therapist. That's how I interpreted it anyway.

That's excellent!! Fr. And I rarely agree completely with other's analysis. That's precisely how I view that. You just worded it better than what's in my head 😄

This for me was the single best episode of television ever made. I hope you got that his Dad was causing the fire alarms in the hotel.

Kevin saved Patty from drowning, only to drown her again himself. I think it shows the capability of his character, from saving a unknown child to killing a known one. Wow, this show beautiful f'ed up

Patty as a child with that awful note attached to her is just pitiful. Her lines and her little voice just nail it. 😩

The single best episode of television ever made this episode. Wow. It blew my mind when I originally watched it.

Ok I saw that y'all have finished this show... there's this really cool thing you should do. It's called the Wu Tang Clan Name Generator. Nora mentioned it in S3. Just go to site and type in your name. It'll give you your personal nickname. Mine is Respected Assassin 😝 it's really fun. This ep title reminded me of it

I know I’m in the minority but I always roll my eyes a bit when an actor is crazy shredded for roles where it doesn’t make much sense. I get why they do it and obviously a lot of folks enjoy the scenery but seriously. When did this guy find the time and the personal trainer? Other than that though, really good episode!

He's...a cop....it's one of the few jobs where being fit should be encouraged...lol. Besides thatm I've seen cops with body types ranging from obese to being a bodybuilder. It's not that weird :/

@@Mukatutu you would need to dehydrate yourself to look like that. It isn’t about being in shape, dude had like an eighteen pack. I know what you’re thinking, “my uncle Jimmy has an eighteen pack and he works at the local dog shelter.” Well maybe uncle Jimmy has a hobby or he’s just a workout fiend. Point being, this is stream of consciousness stuff, try not to take it too seriously.
