I never read a Joe comic, but I LOVED the show. It was a major part of my childhood. The show went off, so I didn’t know the toy line continued after ‘87 until Dragonfire came out.

Some of this is really surprising. I never knew he had difficulties in the business. I may be misremembering, but I am sure he wrote Wolverine for a while either while doing GI Joe, or shortly after. And they wouldn't give Wolverine to "a nobody in the business."

Remember getting issue #21 and reading it… well looking at it and thinking that it was something special. One of my favorite comic books ever. So happy I bought it when it came out AND it’s got to be one of the best comics of all time.

I hadn’t bought an individual issue of a comic in years until the Skybound series got me heading to the comic shop every month. That and the new Conan series from Titan. Interestingly, the first comic issues I ever bought when I was a kid were both Conan and GI Joe. But it was GI Joe that made me a comic collector.

Larry we (the kids that read your comics) always gave a shit about you and still respect what you gave us to this day. I for one enjoyed the every issue I could buy as a kid. The realism and depth of the characters you created are why many of us (kids) became who we are today.

I met Larry back in 2017. For me that was something I never thought would ever happen because I am in Kuwait. There was an event and the U.S embassy decided to invite him for it. He made me a Snake Eyes sketch and signed a few comics and GIJOE figures. More importantly he spoke of how he made the famous GIJOE Silent Issue. I was disappointed that not more people showed up but I blame the event organizers for that.

Can we PLEASE get a collected edition (trade paperback) of the final few IDW Real American Hero issues? I’d only been collecting the series in trade and had to skip over to the Image issues without reading that story... I’m sure I’m not the only one.

@@xtort1220That’s great, but I already have IDW’s collected Marvel run. I’m talking about Larry Hama’s IDW Real American Hero continuation… 24 volumes were released in trade. We the fans were still waiting on the 25th volume when IDW lost the license to Image. And we’re still waiting on those final few issues - that bridge the gap between IDW and Image - to be collected.

I respect G.I.Joe comic book writer: Larry Hama, and I like the G.I.Joe characters that he has created. I also like his G.I.Joe comic book stories that Larry Hama has written. But, the only thing that bothers me, In this Skybound Interview, Is his cursing, and use of porfanity. I feel cursing, and profanity, Is NOT necessary, If you are talking about, a comic book, about G.I.Joe action figures, and toys.

my fav issue was #1 and up to 10 it was really good but it was nt about the story afterwards, it was about selling figures, and became a soap opera, not missions anymore and the artists varied, some were pretty clunky art looking, I almost stopped getting them.... surely one of Stan Lees s trick to save pennies and not pay the artists fairly justice is poetic, as he got ripped off badly afterwards. the next step for gi Joe - Hasbro is to create - design an Asian and middle eastern faction 'a la' October guard a team that cooperates or competes against gi Joe heroes gi Joes - October guards, Asian - middle east [create heroic faction names] villains - Cobra, Destro iron grenadiers symbolic gesture for world peace the heroes are real, as peace is real and reason in judgement times war is fictive, as there is no real enemy, the enemy is war itself, not other members of the specie at least 50% of America don t want war, gi Joe is for world peace with America s interests - safety in mind the rest of the world must know the good will of the people, they don t want war! I think this project would be a great legacy for Mr Hama, being a main actor of this beautiful attempt to help save lives and our soul in this terrible conflict coming also, it s a safe thing to say that it s in the community and line s interest to keep good relations with China, or... no more figs here... we must do what we can to keep a bridge with them on a basis of peace and understanding and we must hold firm! the message must be clear, we, the Joe fans are for world peace! and nothing else will do you can count on me to work on that, as if someone saves this world, of course, it ll be...gi Joe! everybody counts on him! it must be done! I m not surprised that the admin kept Larry in the dark, keeping all the fame to themselves, in fear that he might ask more money, or quit to do his own thing but, the golden egg goose never hatches as much as she does when she s happy, and everyone knows that fantastic artists are prima donnas, and rightly so!!! so now you know... good show bro and thank you Mr Hama for all you ve done for us fans and gi Joe, 'never forget'....

As kid it was my favorite part of the month to get to grocery store and get the new issues, from 1 on. The cartoons were crap to my 12 year old brain, the comics was my ARAH canon. Back then Cons weren’t what they are now, plus our parents would never take us to one period! lol, too busy making us mow the yard and stuff 😂

The first and only Kickstarter I've ever funded and can't wait to get my hands on the physical copies. I do hope they do another Kickstarter for all the non-Marvel Joe stuff Larry has done since, like Devil's Due GI Joe Declassified and the IDW run that picked up after the Marvel books. Also, can we start a Kickstarter already for a complete Mike Grill The Warlord Omnibus already?

Larry Hama won't be able to work much longer due to medical reasons. The fact that he still has to work at all is shameful. This guy is responsible for a huge chunk of our childhoods, and he gets nothing for it even though his creations still make a ton of money for Hasbro.

I know exactly how it feels to write and create, develop and make. Put my love and effort into things that call to me, that visions appear. For all reasons ubknown to me, but I still feel strongly compelled to create. And just like ypu said - nobody seems to care. Like i manange to share my content with the least most of all respectdul, and the last to care. Who or where I go to show and share with is a mystery for me. At least you have had a business connection, and accomplished. The whole G.I. Joe cartoon era affected me so great as a child. The plots we very interesting even ñow as an adult when I can understand what could be possible. Modern cartoons now seem to lack that same power of attraction. At least for me.they do. Thank you for sharing.
