Great conference, eminent panelists, and amicable moderator. Late Samuel lives forever as one of humanity's most successful public intellectuals.

Mr. Allison did a good job as moderator introducing each speaker. I hope to hear from each one of them on their view of the world today.

i liked it and although, his book on the clash of civilizations didn't satisfy me because of its anti-islamic view, I have deep respect for Professor Huntington for his tremendous books Political order in changing societies and the third wave which helped me understand better the difficulties we meet in nation building in african states like the Congo Brazzaville. his political order remains up to now, the best book I have read on political development!

Every rational person would understand that Islam is evil there is an urgent need to destroy it.

Your "anti Islamic" comment seems to imply prejudice on Huntington's part; maybe the truth is that Huntington saw the Islamic civilization for what it is which is a prototypical barbarism with roots back in the beginning of human society.

But you ignore that Islam is like any other religion/identity, it can be changed and adapted over time to become moderate.

Is Islam practiced by Indonesians the same as Saudi Wahhabism? No. What about Indian Muslims? Are they the Same as Pakistani muslims? No they've changed and adapted their way of life to fit their respective societies.

Huntington's focus on American identity (in his other book, Who Are We? The Challenges to America's National Identity (2004), would soon become the rallying point for extreme nationalists who view immigrants as invaders. He is someone who rightwingers like Bannon use to support things like Project 2025 and how people who view the Great Replacement Theory as something we all should embrace in the US.

The last 13 years have only proven Huntington even more right, especially in regards to his last two books. Of course, today this panel couldn't even be assembled.

it is really interesting how each of four presenters have a different take-aways from being S. Huntington's students. Great insights indeed
