I am Barbadian and and left in 1961, still a colony of GB ignorant of its history which was not on the curriculum of my secondary school or discussed at home; it's never too late to learn; I wonder to what extent today is this information based on historical research is made available and taught in classrooms of the Republic of Barbados?

@@HistoryonKZbin that's none of your concern what I think is good for my people. All I'm gonna say is the people who've done inhumane crimes and exploited others for their and future bloodline to benefit need to give back the inheritance they stole that everyone has a birth right too. The ones who rule know how and where most of their riches come from..it damn sure wasn't all from the stock market. If the jews can receive and continue to receive reparations..everyone else deserves the same benefit.

The slaves of the British Caribbean were dead before Victoria was Queen, never mind Elizabeth II. Every enslaved person of the Caribbean is long dead, their grandchildren are long dead. Reparations are given to those who personally suffered.

@@daveramses8236 The reparations movement is all about acquiring people's votes. If they stir up blood feud and people are hurting others, if tensions between various groups of people are inflamed because of things done 189 years and more ago, they don't care any more than a thief or robber cares as long as they have their unjust gains. They are moral monsters.

Quite enlightening. We are all still slaves of the rich as corruption continues with global offshore tax haven thievery. That said, searching the path of family found in St. Michael's Parish of Barbados from the 1650's to 1705, Darby, Teague, Cornelius, John, Mary and Thomas. What was the most common route from Barbados to North America? Charleston, SC?

Drax's land holdings in the UK weren't "acquired by criminal proceeds" as slavery was legal at the time so not a criminal act. If you do something today which is lawful then next year it is criminalised, should you be retrospectively prosecuted ???

That is a good point, which I accept as a good legal point. However I would argue that the acquisition of those slaves was illegal, even if owning them to the place they were taken was not. I think this point is worth a video in its own right although it is really a point for a lawyer.

It's true.... the Slave Code of Barbados were written in 1661 or thereabouts.... Colonialists from Barbados went to the Carolinas in 1671/72 taking the Code with them that showed how to control their enslaved Afrikans. This was later adopted by the British American Colonies .... You may search on KZbin for lectures by Historian Sir Hilary Beckles for a start.... He has also written a number of books on the Afrikan Transatlantic Slave Trade.

We came as prisoners of war , at that time in UK it was Protestants against the holy Roman Empire who were also "blk" people. The protestants were arresting killing and deporting Catholics from """" to 🇧🇧 St Lucia Martinique Monseratt Jamacia and North and South America 🇧🇧 was the first place for the deportation, it was a breeding farm and people were shipped from Barbados to the Entire Americas before they started bringing them direct from the UK to the sed places mentioned above and more . Captain Venables left 🇧🇧 with a flotilla of ships loaded with Bajan and British soldiers to capture Hispaniola/Haiti but bad weather detoured them to jamacia which led to the capture of jamacia, leading to a mass migration of Bajan scots/irish and English both blk and white to jamacia " .

After the death Cromwell , charles2nd"son of charles1st regained the crown of the UK "leading to the change of Neddhams point to Fort Charles" but his reign was short and he had to exile to 🇫🇷 leading to the Rise of the Hanovarian King George ,but the parliment of 🇧🇧 had beef with King George " a brown skinned negro king from Germany who the 🇧🇧 parliment"which is the third oldest in the world" did not recognize him as King same way they didn't Cromwell for Cromwell was never king being not a Stewart had the title Lord protector govenor of the Uk common wealth. King George was of stewart blood from Charles1st who in his diplomatic traveling 2 Germany maried a Brownskined "blk" baroness that's how George accended to the throne after the death of his cousin the apparent Heir to the throne. The first coin in barbados minted in the 1700s depicting a blk person wearing the crown of the Duke of york with Latin words sayin I serve on the other side is a pineapple. A later version depicts the same but instead of a pine apple on the other side depicts a king sitting in a majestic water throne . These coins Depicts King George and his queen Sofia.
