【STORY】
七耀暦1205年。
ゼムリア大陸北西部に位置する最も貧しい地域であるノーザンブリア自治州で生まれ育った少女ラヴィ。彼女は故郷を守るため、そして、かつて英雄として崇められながらノーザンブリアを裏切った祖父・ヴラドと自身は違うのだと証明するため、大陸最大の猟兵団として名高い《北の猟兵》に志願し任務を遂行していた。
任務に没頭するあまり規律違反を繰り返すラヴィは、ある時、マーティ、イセリア、タリオンと小隊を組まされ無謀ともいえるエレボニア帝国への内偵任務を命じられる。
ノーザンブリアを脅かす未知の存在《帝国の英雄》の情報を掴むために--。

Not gonna lie. Im really excited for this. And the portrayal of Rean/Valimar being a looming threat is pretty cool. Its not everyday where you see this POV where fighting against the Ashen Chevalier is a nigh inevitability in the eyes of the politicians and soldiers.

@@rafelt4147 I think animation wise thr sky anime is still better, but this new one uses a more detailed art style compared the sky anime and also it has the upperhand of having a smaller scale of story to adapt. Sky animation was good but has to fit a long story in just an hour and a half timespan.

最初は「え…？リィン、敵やん…（絶句）!!」ってなったけど、今は実際のリィンと猟兵団の絡みがどうなるか、メッチャ気になる。 コレがあって閃3に繋がるワケだし。 何ならアニメが終わって、いつか出る黎3かそれ以降の物語でゲームでの絡み、下手したら仲間入りして一緒に闘うとかやりかねん。 だってFalcomだし😁

リィンが英雄として走り回ってた時期か。普段相手してる帝国内とか結社の人間が化物ばっかなだけで他国からみたら充分リィンも化物だよな。 敵としての生身のリィンもちょろっとでいいから出てくるといいな。

Nice! Another side of the story. I really loves trails because of this. If this happens at the northern war when Rean became the hero of Empire, then I expect Sara at least will come up since she's also there. Also, Aurelia should make a brief appearance. But given that Northern Ambria will absorbed into the Empire, I think this story won't end well...

I'm pretty sure he was already a hero from his efforts in the Civil War and his help during the annexation of Crossbell. After the Crossbell part in CS2 there's a newspaper shot of Rean with headline calling him the Hero of Erobenian.

@@Scatterblades here an idea you could do for your IV run, Raise Laura STR as high as you could, gave her Valhalla MQ, Minatour as sub, waterfall and Domination quartz and Laura could oneshot all the boss even on N3 run.

@@iryu7288 yes. Thank you. Already preparing for that. Always use Domination on Laura or Sara. I switch around quartz a lot but for most of the lost arts cryptid battles, I do use Laura a lot since they're so hard at early games and preparing for Laura while defending seems effective on some.. Laura is just crazy strong, but slow. I usually pair her with Fie so Laura can do assists very often that do tons of dmg and also easily fill up her gauge lol. Fie also able to reach 95% evasion easily and pretty fast. Best pair ever.

@@Scatterblades NGL Eva tank kinda useless in IV NG+, after my first playthrough I never make Fie or Kurt (who's the only one that can reach 108+ eva without Rex accessories gift or the ultimate shoe) eva tank. Which is sad since eva tank build is my favorite build to play since Zero.

I was somewhat ambivalent about the setting until I learned they're fighting in the Northern Jaegers. The Legend of Heroes up to this point has done a good job portraying the ambiguities of different factions so here's hoping this anime continues that.

This is pretty much the part that Rean went berserk with the Ishmelga's curse. And there's in the war... Rean, Altina, Sara, Aurelia and Wallace.

@@Setzen_Kreig nope. this was the time when rean and altina went to crush the isurgencies in north ambria.. im pretty sure this was a one sided battle since rean never reported any problems "helping" the empire. but i think he made the casualties as low as possible.

@@michaeljakeusman It was more Aurelia fighting North Ambria, when Rean went Berserk, he was fighting Ouroboros' Archaism to protect and evacuate civilians if i recall correctly (alongside Altina and Sara), either way, it's a stated fact that Rean doesn't kill, even in the open war against Calvard, the president mentionned Rean destroyed their airship without killing the crews inside of it, that's why Calvardian and North Ambrian respect him as much as Erebonian

I'm actually just playing the 3rd Cold Steel game. I was wondering, why they skipped the North Ambria invasion. The one who led the charge was Aurelia Le Guin, that mean, our dense protag wouldn't get lots of screen time anyway, but I remember, Valimar between the 2nd and the 3rd installment of the game is base valimar right? Not the evolved, or the black valimar right?

This is good. When I heard that they were making a ToCS anime, I was concerned that they would try to adapt material from the games, which would probably go poorly. The fact that they are instead writing new story to plug a gap is a very good sign.

Definitely. ToCS is a pretty slow series, with lots of backtracking and pauses so the player explore on their own. But in a TV show (or movie), the audience is just sitting there watching, so it has to be FAST. (On the other hand, a RPG with non-stop action and no breaks in between to explore would be terrible.)

To anyone expect to see Cold Steel’s casts, I don’t think we’re gonna see them much in the anime. After all, they didn’t participate in the war directly, but doing more of a bracer’s jobs, except Rean going berserk, I feel like that’s going to be big.

Therefore rean become unconscious but his spirit unification still on (he goes beserk), when he woke up 3 days later all he can witness is north ambria annexed by the empire. Rean save north ambria, not an antagonist. Thats what I thinking.

I don't know why people want a straight up adaptation of the cold steel games. World building has always been a major part of trails and this anime does that, allowing us to see what North Ambria is like and what went on during its annexation, something we didn't see in the games, it's a step in the right direction in my opinion.

That isn't the point. Its the fact that its the first ever proper anime adaptation of the series and it essentially has nothing to do with the main series and characters that made it great in the first place. If this was made after an adaptation of CS2, this would be perfect as it would show how it directly affected north ambria and its people, adding that much more to story and its impact on the world. But...this is the first true adaptation of the series since its inception and its characters and main story that made it as beloved as it is now is absent here. This is not what fans want or should get after having wanted an adaptation for more than a decade. Newcomers to the series will not understand or appreciate the scope of what is even happening in this anime. This decision just isn't right for many reasons.

閃登場キャラはリィン、サラ、トヴァル、オーレリア、ウォレス、アルティナ、オリヴァルト当たりが出てくる可能性ありそうかな？ 楽しみだ!!

あとサラとトヴァルのノーザンブリア入りを密かに手伝ったヴァンと、遊撃士になったフィー、ヴァンダイク元帥や3、4、7の各師団長もちょい出て来るかもしれませんね。

すごい、ゲームと違う路線でここまで話を広げられるのは流石ファルコムクオリティ オリキャラも沢山いそうだから新規の人も入りやすそう いや、ここでファンを増やすんや…！
