I love how well-made but also minimalistic these videos are. No flashy graphics, no desperate attempts at comedy or hectic hyper fast audio editing, just well-made conversational talking about something the creator clearly is enthusiastic about.

Or an obnoxious voice where everything is overemphasized. Thankfully I've found that the best, most in-depth content also tends to come from people who don't correspond to the KZbinr stereotypes in terms of presentation.

It's been really cool to see you cover all of the pre-Trails Legend of Heroes games. Also worth noting is that LoHV is apparently the first video game to feature OP animation directed by Makoto Shinkai (then using his real name, Makoto Niitsu), who worked for Falcom between 1996 & 2000. While his Ys II Eternal OP is truly the apex of his work there, you can see the little bits of animation in this game's OP definitely look nice, too.

Omg I love you! Thank you for making this video! 5 is my absolute favorite of the trilogy and also the first one that I played. I wanted to be a musician at the time and was avidly studying music so I was happy that there was another music based jrpg I could play (eternal sonata being the most well known one if any). Anyway the reason why there's a major shift in the plot near the end was because the story writer for 5 quit halfway through development and left the story unfinished and when Kondo stepped in he had to basically finish the story. Which he did an amazing job at btw. I have finally obtained the windows version myself and I am so happy to experience this game in its original glory. Can't wait to see more old games from you

Man, those older pc game options certainly take me back as well. The XP years were great for importing PC games. And don't worry about the whole naming thing, oftentimes localizers can't get it right at all, even when the japanese given them clear directions as to what the name is supposed to be, like with Fort here or Zaks in FF7.

some modern ltd editions scratch that itch pretty well. I recently got the god of war ltd (and that's frankly excessive) and triangle strategy which has a pretty dang fine set of goodies inside, all packed in a nice, shelf-friendly package. Even back in the days a lot of big box games were really pretty empty or severely underwhelming btw.

And that's my favorite of the Gagharv Trilogy wrapped up. Man, I'm currently clinging to every little bit of pseudo-evidence that might prove the Gagharv world is part of the current Trails world, too. I just want the Gagharv trilogy to become more popular, it was amazing for its time and I still think they're some of the best RPGs ever made. Glad to see that Geofront is working on translating them, starting with White Witch. Now the only thing that would probably be even better is a proper remake of the whole Gagharv trilogy with extra lore added onto it. And maybe make a game about Michel. Thank you so much for the video, whatever your next one's gonna be, I'll be looking forward to it!

it was so surreal hearing that Trails in the Sky motif in a song from an older falcom game. although that's kind of what the entire Gagharv trilogy seems like to me: an old track that contains exact echoes of more iconic songs to come. from my perspective (a zoomer trails fan), the Gargharv games seem very rough around the edges, and I'm kind of glad they were that way, so Falcom could learn from their mistakes before they made their absolute masterwork of the Trails in the Sky games. This game seems incredibly fascinating on its own merits, though. the twist that the world of these games is actually divided into three seems like a super creative storytelling concept, and the focus on music works really well for a Falcom game.

Falcom is great but they weren’t the only game studio open at the time and I would love to see more about what everyone else was doing. As far I know a Roland Sound Canvas SC-88Pro( or a SC-8850 in SC-88Pro map mode) is the optimal MIDI sound source for this game. Falcom was in love with the Sound Canvas line. The MIDI soundtracks for their PC games were always arranged with a SC as sound source.

I really like this game. Most people usually prefer LoH4, but I actually think this is by far the better game storywise. It ties the trilogy very well and I think is the only LoH game that allows a 6 party fights. Don't have any personal stories or "well actuallys" for you this time, as this is the one Gagharv game I basically never played at all. It sat on my shelf for ages, and I think is STILL on my shelf now, in my closet, but I've just never gotten around to playing it! Seems like I've been missing out, though, as it looks to be a spectacular experience -- classic Falcom in every way! One day, perhaps I shall set things right and finally play through this trilogy in earnest. But until then, I really appreciate having your videos for reference and inspiration. Keep doin' what you're doin', man, and thanks for another great episode! ;) And... well, I guess I will make a suggestion, while I'm here! Maybe I've made this suggestion before in comments on another of your videos, I'm not sure (I have kind of a goldfish memory sometimes). But I feel like if you've never played it, you should absolutely 100% check out Falcom's "Dinosaur," and especially their Windows remake of it, "Dinosaur: Resurrection," which added one very minor feature to the game that honestly changes everything and makes the entire game feel so much more "complete" (basically, a change in the battle encounter rate, wherein it now varies WILDLY depending on how many walls you have around you at the moment, which transforms finding dead-end passages in dungeons from a frustration to a relief, since you can easily rest over and over again in a dead-end without getting into a single battle, recovering your entire party to full!). I definitely think Dinosaur would be right up your alley, though, as it has... just, a very weirdly ultra-serious story with some extremely surrealist elements to it (townsfolk creepily breaking the fourth wall by mentioning the fact that they exist solely to benefit you, or that the reason there are no children in the town is because they have no need for children since said purpose is fulfilled without them), and also an absolutely outstanding soundtrack that I feel may be one of Falcom's most underrated. Would be right at home in this series, I think! Just another recommendation for the pile, though, I'm sure. ;)

Dragon slayer series legends of heroes is in a separate world. Legends of heroes 2,4,3(psp) are in three separate worlds which means the first legends of heroes, and the Dragon slayer are its own world, separated by an invisible barrier. The Trail series, hinted that each world is separated by invisible barrier. Same with Ys series, Nayuta’s World, Tokyo Xanadu(which is the original earth) and every other Falcons game.(but it’s mostly a theory.) Pretty much there is a miniature multi-verse, all the worlds in the Falcom games is surrounded by a pocket dimension, surrounded by impassable barrier to prevent the humans from leaving their world. Which was created thousands of years ago by ancient humans that can manipulate reality and was type 4 civilization and control most of the universe, creating multiple planets using ancient advanced technology thousands of years ago. But that’s mostly a theory .🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔 I have to say theory because they’re still making new games to add more to the Lore. Pretty much thousands of years ago the Mythos, Gods, angels, and other artificial lifeforms. Went to war with humanity which caused ancient humans to fall and most of their ancient history, which is mostly digital, was destroyed in humans on each of the planets, completely forgot their own history.
