they've confirmed this is a 2-season arc, which is great because there is a LOT of stuff that stretched over 45 or so livestreamed episodes and you can already tell they're really zooming along (for comparison the briarwood arc was only 14 livestreamed episodes) since they're basically squeezing 100-150 hours of gameplay into 8 hours of animation

as others pointed out, Laura played young Trunks, but Taliesin was also one of the first people doing English dubs of anime in America, and most of them started doing dubs. Most of them have iconic anime voices on their resume - Travis as Roy Mustang, Liam as Gaara, Matt as Levi Ackerman - they are definitely fans.

I’m going to avoid commenting on things that have fifty comments about them already and answer some other stuff: Haha, no, Kash is just another cleric (who happens to have an interesting backstory of his own) they met during the Slayer‘s Take mini-arc - along with Zahra (Mary Elizabeth McGlynn), and two other guests named Lyra (Felicia Day) and Thorbir (Wil Wheaton) who actually don’t show up here. I feel like they retconned it into a past offscreen event for the sake of pacing, but it was a cool couple of sessions pre-Briarwoods where they split the party with some guests for bounty hunter stuff. One job of which ended up having major consequences down the road. Kashaw was played / is voiced by Will Friedle, best known as homeboy from Boy Meets World. So no, not every long-haired brown-haired dude is Matt, even if people like to think so. 😂 The Vasselheim gate guard *was* another Matt clone, though.

Woah, you picked up on the raven thing AND the talking sword thing quicker than any other youtuber I’ve seen!! Nice :) I’m working a double today so I can’t do timestamps for a while, but I did want to hit a couple of points. You met Zahra and Kashaw!! They were the guest stars people mentioned before! Those two are well loved by most critters, but they did switch up how VM met them a bit for the show. AND EARTHBREAKER GROON!!!! Groon is a monk, and monks are IN. SANE. They’re frontline melee fighters who use their fists (or sometimes a staff) and STILL manage to hold their own against every other class, if not outdo them! They can catch arrows or bullets with their bare hands, stun opponents with a strike, perform acrobatic stunts to dodge blows- basically they are crazy kung fu masters. Marisha plays such a monk in Campaign 2 and she was a BEAST!

Man that animation for the Calamity /vestiges flashback was awesome 😍 I'm so glad this is a two season arc there is SO much to fit in and they have more time to take with it now. You're gonna have a blast, I mean you already are haha, also Calamity EXU has helped give everything before it more meaning and emotional weight, even tho I've watched C1 many times going back after (and C2 also) whenever there is lore Matt sprinkles in its extra exciting.

I can see why you thought Kashaw looks a little like Matt but he's an original PC from back then. They're both actually voices by the players as well (Will Friedle and Mary Elizabeth McGlynn)

Earthbreaker Groon is one of my favorite NPCs/encounters of all time. And the way they brought him to life in this is beyond amazing. He totally looks like a street fighter character. His quote "the answers you seek are earned, not given" is like the thing hanging on the wall behind you. ^_^ Anyone else want an Earthbreaker Groon cosplay from Bobby?! Man, same. The Chroma Conclave arc is the longest arc in the original campaign. There's no way it could be wrapped up in one season. In their announcement of the third season, it was pretty clear that the Chroma Conclave arc will take both season 2 and season 3 to dully resolve

Vasselheim is the city that was mentioned a few times during Calamity, which you've seen.. it was ancient then already..and it stood tall and lived through the calamity, a time when gods themselves fell... Isolationists pricks they may be, but they do have the power to back up their claims.. (and you could argue they don't spread that power around defending others, because they are basically defending the cradle of civilisation itself.. when all other places in the world fall, Vasselheim must stand fast... you kinda get where she's coming from, if you think of it that way).

Bidet was indeed a misuderstanding that became a thing. They changed when/where it happens in the animation (Vasselheim vs Ank'harel in the campaign), but the end result is the same. XD Vex mentioned Vasselheim was "stuffy" in episode one, and the interaction they had with the Dawn Marshals in the Platinum Sanctuary did little to dispel that. It's not that Vasselheim or it's leaders are callous and don't care, but their history explains a lot of why they hold so firm on staying behind their walls and always keeping vigilant. Having twice been the only mortal city to survive (damaged, but still functional) global scale disasters, they are very much a product of that. It is interesting to note that while Vasselheim is home to the Cobalt Vault, followers of the Knowing Mistress, one of the goddess' most favored servants Osysa resides with the Slayer's Take. Personal conjecture, but I firmly believe that this is deliberate. The goddess of knowledge was wounded in the Calamity, and should the Betrayers or something equally bad come calling again, the focus will likely be on the Cobalt Vault, allowing the backup in the form of Osysa to hopefully escape notice entirely, or at least escape. Also, Earthbreaker Groon was cool in the campaign but he's even cooler in the animation. The cast's love of both Avatar the Last Airbender and Dragonball is quite evident in the design and personality of the Earthbreaker. And that voice, damn. :)

Bobby: In a way, Dragon Ball is the reason Laura Bailey and Travis Willingham are together. Many years ago, back in Dallas, Texas, Travis was a fan of Dragon Ball and noticed Laura Bailey was on the cast. He sorta knew her from the Dallas acting scene and started bugging her to help him got some anime jobs. But that was pretty much it. Years later, in Los Angeles, Laura and Travis reconnected, started dating, and the rest is history.
