Tal is SO GOOD at dropping jokes and lines that pay off in later episodes of the stream. It feels like they're planting seeds for a lot of little moments like that, some of which didn't get payed off in Season 1. Even if they didn't know Season 2 was gonna happen, they did a good job laying the groundwork just in case.

Scanlan’s thing is indeed later in the story, though coming very soon (I expect it in the next batch of episodes). The Percy kill in this episode happened in the campaign as well, and his line about Stonefell being the one he was least looking forward to kill is taken directly from there. The details how it happened in the campaign were different, but I appreciate the comic elements here. Also, Archibald is much older in the campaign and has only a minor role, but they said they had made him younger so that they could get Dominic Monaghan to voice him. By the way, Stonefell was voiced by Darin De Paul, he is much more sinister in the animated series than in the campaign.

This is my understanding as well. So half of the season is still left and pretty much all of it will involve the Briarwoods. Mild spoiler but If I were writing the show, I would conclude the season with VM returning to Emon, and making sure that their names were cleared. There is a big announcement event and then a crazy thing happens, which is a cliffhanger leading directly into the next season/arc of the adventure. For those who have seen the campaign they know what I'm talking about, but don't want to ruin it for those not in the know.

I'd count the Winterscrest/Christmas episode as the end point of the Briarwood arc, since they're still in Whitestone, I think the end point will be there as they set up the council and then return to Emon for a bit to clear their names. A lot of people saying the season will end on the massive cliffhanger of the CC arrival but I doubt it. I'd bet just a quick preview of that green eye scheming.

I loved this episode SO MUCH, and wow, great reaction! Like Wendy, I only have limited experience with Campaign 1 so far, and frankly I don't want to watch the CR Briarwood arc until we all finish up season 1 of LoVM. After that, for the context and nuance, definitely! (And was I the only one who, when Grog had to toss the cask of booze and Vex hit it with a flaming arrow, was mentally shouting "FLUFFERNUTTER!!!")

Because they changed this encounter, it's hard to say if this is spoilers or not, so just in case SPOILERS, but this is how it went down in game... In game, they had spent a night in Whitestone already, and the corrupted nature of the land was causing Percy to have a persistent cough and sadistic tendencies (because of a failed saving throw). Though the players know this was happening, their characters did not. This encounter happened at Kerrion Stonefell's manor. Vox Machina had talked to Archie (who was an older gentleman loyal to Percy's father and not a compatriot of Percy's), but they were not connected to the resistance otherwise. They broke into Stonefell's manor, and cornered him and Vouk (one of his cronies) in his office, killed a couple guards and Scanlan dominated another (magically) to turn him to their side. Percy killed Stonefell saying the line from this episode "And let me say that you were the one I was least looking forward to". Vax knocked out the dominated guard in case the spell wore off. Then things got really dark. They tied up Vouk and interrogated him. He begged for his life and promised to help them get into the castle. Instead, Grog ripped out his tongue, Percy cauterized the wound with his gun and then used it to branded the de Rolo family crest onto his forehead. They then threw him out of a window and allowed him to run away as a message to the Briarwoods and their henchmen before burning down the mansion (carrying the guard out with them to leave outside). Keyleth, Vax and Vex definitely were disturbed by all that happened, but did not stop Percy from doing it. They questioned him later about the "smoke monster" and his behavior. I assume they cut the Vouk stuff out because they thought that might be a step too far, and because it took too much time to make happen. But it is possible that it will make an appearance in a different time and place. But judging from the trailers, Scanlan's great solo adventure is yet to come.

I sincerely hope they don't skip past the skeleton army and Pike's big moment of jumping off that wall to land in the middle and cause utter destruction. Too many people overlook clerics and Pike too because she is so small. Pike is a monstah and a badass. Not to mention she can cause a goliath barbarian to do what she wants with just a single look.

SPOILER!! . . . . . . . . . I think that they WILL implement Scanlan's triceratops escapades. They set is up with him getting Polymorph, and in the campaign they first deal with Stonefell, and then the next day they kill every lieutenant. I'm guessing after that is when Pike will appear again, when they are escaping from the Briarwood strongholds in the town followed by hordes of undead. I want Pike's first thing when she's back to be a full on Destroy Undead channelling Sarenrae's divinity. I think that has to be the proof that her power is truely back.
