When I watched this series, this episode did me in. I knew Yanyan still loved the other man and I knew that Emperor's usually had other wives and concubines, but it still made my heart act for Yanyan. But at least she got to marry her true love after the Emperor died. So much heart ache all around. All because Yanyan was coveted for making a good Empress.

People, this is like 10th century China, and he's the emperor, he has every right to do that, and technically having tons of other wives is what he was supposed to do. Yanyan knows that she's hurt which is normal, but what he did was something all emperors would do. In fact, he's already better than most of the other ones.
