You can't leave the Great Plateau without completing the checkmark, ie. Getting all the mandatory runes

They explain around 21:40 - the game is coded to not allow you to finish the shrine without the runes. If you try, the monk will tell you to go back and get it.

A lot of technical issues in general, between commentary, game stream framerate, timer was late, etc. Someone in production likely said "hey we're really early on, let's just get a clean start", and it paid off pretty well IMO

Player5 stated on his stream a few hours after that he had to move his setup to a new location because his home wifi was acting up-change caused an issue when he tried streaming the run to the other commentators on Discord, hence the reset so it could be on time or at least relatively close

They mention it at the very beginning of the run before the technical difficulties, but in French the dialogue is slightly faster and saves approximately 4 seconds. Cheers!

So unlucky with the castle oob windbomb miss, forced him to eat his meal early and take additional damage from later windbombs which meant he had to do blights & calamity on one heart. That laser aoe isn't normally something you'd have to worry about if you didn't get hit during the blights but it was just enough to kill him here because of that windbomb. Good recovery though and a clutch safety save, luckily the game gives you full health if you "continue" after death.

if he had picked up 2 more fish at the beginning he would have been able to heal, right? the tight routing was really impressive though, unfortunate that it didn't work out 100%.

With a 29:56, he got 143 place. Because he died, he lost around 4:15. Subtract that time, he would have gotten 25:41, which is 20th place! That’s really good for a speed run event meant to showcase tricks! I probably did some part of the math wrong, so correct me if you feel like it.

Sgdq was. This was not due to difficulties with the venue.

They made a contract with a venue in Florida, but between COVID and Florida being dumb, they wanted to buy out the contract, but stated that they couldn't afford to do that and also afford a new venue. They stated that next year will be in-person.
