It's so beautiful how you can hear Links theme at 1:24 while hearing Zeldas lullaby in the background
@VegetaLF7 Жыл бұрын
The two swap places in the Interior version of the track, with Zelda's Lullaby being more prominent while Link's theme fades to the background. By far my favorite detail about that one is the realization that they had a 2-note "alarm" sounding over it that you can only hear in the Interior version. In the older games when your health drops below 3 hearts and you are almost dead, you'd get an alarm sounding that was your audio que that you're in trouble. For the Interior version of Hyrule Castle's theme, during the Zelda's Lullaby segment you hear that alarm layered over her theme, thematically symbolizing how Zelda has been singlehandedly holding Calamity Ganon back for the past 100 years and is on the verge of failing, that she's at the end of her rope with the "low health" alarm mixing with her theme to spur you on to rescue her.

Ballad of the Wind Fish, Ganon's Message, the Hyrule Castle theme of Twilight Princess, Zelda's Lullaby, the bells from Final Hours, and the series' main theme, which for all intents and purposes can be viewed as Link's theme by now, all coming together and accompanied by the powerful marching, which I like to imagine as representing everyone who's ever played and helped the series reach this point, maybe even all the past Links or all those who fell to Calamity Ganon... It's truly one of the most incredible pieces composed for a Zelda game and really brings it home that this is what everything was ultimately leading to.

Between what you said, and how well BOTW has a very final confrontation with Ganon, I actually hate that the next game just has him go "lol didn't count" and just completely undo everything. If ever there was a time to get a new major antagonist for this series, it was after the finale of BOTW.
@Enigma2Me3 жыл бұрын
Late reply, but this song evokes a sense of grim purpose. This once proud castle, the shining jewel of the civilization that was Hyrule, is now infested by the evil who annihilated everything you loved. The footsteps you hear are not just your own, but also the footsteps of the soldiers who died. The soldiers who marched to face certain death, knowing that they had no chance of winning. The soldiers who could only hope to delay the inevitable for the few precious seconds their lives could buy. For their loved ones, knowing they'd never meet them again in life. For those who they would never meet, never knew, but whose lives were spared and survived a century afterwards. And for you. You, who were once their brother in arms, fated to be the hero who, along with the Princess, should have destroyed this evil. And you failed them. You failed everyone. And as you now march towards the den of the beast, you march with your own grim purpose. A second, and final chance. But you do not fight alone. You, who carry the weight and powers of your fellow champions who perished fighting to the end. Now they stand at the ready, their Divine Beasts purified of corruption and brought back to the light. You march with the ghosts of your fallen brothers. They cry out for justice, for vengeance against the demon. You march to help the woman you love, who you protected as her Champion. Who now strains to keep the beast in check, her power dwindling even as her faith in you remains strong. You march to what may be your final battle. But you march, knowing that you fight to set the world free of the Calamity.

And you fight knowing the fate of all of Hyrule rests in your hands. Should you fail, the rest of Hyrule as you know it, all of the survivors, those who seek to rebuild from the ruins of the kingdom that once was, will be destroyed. Should you win, Hyrule will be saved, and the rebuilding can begin… Until you must fight the Demon King himself, the Gerudo prince who started it all… Only upon his defeat will Hyrule truly be saved.

I don't know how I have never noticed this when I played the game myself, but by listening to this track multiple times, and the interior track I finally thought of a symbolic meaning, lurking behind the music itself. These two songs, Hyrule Castle Exterior as well as the Interior Theme. The Interior theme starts in a very saddened, hopeless tone. We have Ganondorf's song taking the majority, yet we have a slight glimpse of Zelda's theme (Zelda's Lullaby) but it's accompanied by a beeping sound, much like the sound you hear when you are low on health in many Zelda games. But there's more, Link's theme is not found in the Interior theme, correct me if I am wrong but I did not hear any of this, (this could change my entire speculation in that case). That brings me to the exterior. Ganondorf again starting out with a powerful sound. Only to be followed by the heroic tones of Link, we go back to Ganondorf's and Link's comes back... BUT now you can slightly hear Zelda's theme again! Just behind Link's theme. I imagine it like this: Zelda has been holding off Ganon for a hundred years, she does not have a lot of energy left but in the midst of chaos and destruction. Link finally appears... Link's song is heard much more than Zelda's which gives me the feeling that this is his part to take care of this once and for all. Zelda, with the last ounce of her power left, who struggled for so long has still not given up and joins the battle against Ganon. Yes the final battle, the fate of Hyrule lies in these three beings who were destined to fight from the very beginning. Courage, Wisdom, Power, now assembled as the three parts of the Triforce. BOTW 2 hyyyyyyyyyyyyype! \oAo/

Just listening to these, go to here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/povEonePp9uig6M Turn your volume up and listen CAREFULLY at about the 2:00 to 2:03 mark. You can barely here, in a high, tinging noise (like the very high pitch notes on a xylophone or those little hanging pope instruments) the "da-da-da-da-da-DA..!" It's VERY subtle, but it's there if you listen super carefully. It's one thing I love about both of these songs - and honestly BOTW in general - how much they PACK into every nook and cranny. I've always been a more casual Zelda fan (only played LA, OOT, and a little bit of MM and WW before BOTW), but it's impressive even to me.

The sound of soilders marching even though it's just Link by himself just makes this soundtrack more emotional
@ElFreakinCid Жыл бұрын
There's always three things I like to think of that sound as. One is the most obvious, the souls of everyone who died fighting 100 years ago, still there in spirit and ready to accompany Link and witness Ganon's defeat. Another is that it could be all the past Links, further showing alongside the music that it's all lead up to this. Third and most emotional is that it could represent everyone who ever played and loved these games and helped the series grow to this incredible point.
@VegetaLF7 Жыл бұрын
@@ElFreakinCid Absolutely. The way I interpret it is the marching during the exterior representing the fallen of Hyrule, everyone who has ever suffered and died at the hands of Ganon in all his forms across the ages are with Link as he goes in to put an end to the beast once and for all... ...and then we go inside and it all fades away as it comes down to what it has always been from the very beginning: the Princess, the Demon, and the Hero. The realization that Zelda has been fighting Ganon alone for 100 years and is on the verge of failing at last...and Link is finally here to take up that burden and free her.

Just got done doing a replay of the game. The gameplay is perfect but it’s one of my least favorite soundtracks in the series. This piece is by FAR the best in the whole game in my opinion. I wish more pieces in the game captured the kind of gravitas, intensity, and desperation that this one did. I like the impressionist type music and everything but feel like it doesn’t belong well in a Zelda game and should have had more settings of themes from previous games. I liked the Rito Village theme (setting of Dragon Roost Island from WW), I liked King Rhoam’s theme, Kakariko was okay. Other than that, all pretty bland and not very memorable for me.
