You've reflected everything I feel about this game. I'm in my early 40s and play mostly classics, but this title brought me back to the magic I felt as a kid when I played the very first title. Its just a pleasurable experience. You hit the nail on the head and thank you for this upload.

I am 43, I got this a few years ago and it's easily one of my favourite games of all time. It's excellently done.

Just watched this and your skyward sword video and realised you barely have any other videos. You’re videos are really good buddy! Well spoken, nicely edited and easy to watch. You should put more content out as I’m sure your channel would be very popular!

Thanks for your so spot on review. I do agree, overexposition to the game's content can surely kill the joy of discovering a new world. I also agree with your feelings about Link. Being so much of a blank slate can diminish the emotional impact of the story Nintendo is trying to tell. It's ok for him to be his own character, to progress and have emotions. I hope that Nintendo can get over that "convention" in the future. Love your channel, you deserve more views!

I have put over 500 hours into this game and I still find myself coming back to play more. I just can't get enough of it and I love that every time I play the game it can be it's own unique experience. The non-linearity of the game, I think, is what makes this game is so wonderful.

While I appreciate what you are saying in your reviews to explain your points and opinions this review feels like too much of a gushfest to consider this a good way to get the objective lowdown on this game. While I do agree this game is inspired by the first zelda (I didnt care much for that one) and I do agree that this game is a masterful achievement primarily when it comes to exploration the game suffers in many other ways. Combat is good but not as good as WW or TP. The story though initially interesting does not satisfy. Most of the Zelda games have better stories than this one. The last boss and ending was a pretty big dissapointment (OoT had a way better boss and ending and I dont consider it to be the best). However the NPCs had more development and character than the main characters excluding Zelda.

Mimic Warrior Artist Media What NPCs are you talking about? Nearly every NPC in this Game felt exactly the same to me and since in this Game there so many of them, they didn't even flesh out a single one of them. In the older Zelda Games there were always atleast a few NPCs with real personalities goals and interesting character properties... (Spoilers incoming, I'm trying to talk around a few plot points but still a spoiler...) Really the most interesting Character in the entire Game was the King of Hyrule. The part where you first meet him wasn't really that of a surprise but still. In the memories you can see how hard Zelda pushed her self to try to learn how to awaken her sealing power and when you finally get to her taking a short brake and get see her happy for the first time the King comes in and rants about it. And he pushes Zelda away from any break she may need while interrupting I her trying to explain herself. At this point you may think King Rhoam wasn't so nice after all, but if you actually read his diary in the castle you can get a clearer inside into his perspective of the situation and that he actually had planned to tell Zelda after she had completed last task, that she should to do whatever she wanted. Which he sadly never get to say because the calamity ganon attacked shortly after. This was a nice character, but he still was part of the main story, and the only character that interesting. Zelda had no decisions to make and was forces to do whatever she did most of the time. If for example there was a moment where her dad told her to take a break, but she continued anyways. Moments like this would have made her character stronger but yeah...

Actually, NPC's reappear, as they're often traveling. Each one has completely different dialogue, and character. Since there are so many, not many has character development in in the other Zeldas, which is why they might feel more bare. I feel like this game gave the main characters, link, Zelda, the most character. (Excluding Ganon)

The story was a little weak. But for the most part, i enjoyed the game.My main problems were that we didn't get actual dungeons.I get the concept of the divine beasts and over time I accepted it for it worked for this game.Don't get me wrong I really wanted real dungeons but I got used to it.The big problem for me was 2 things.1 the slate thing was meh it served as the new items and you hardly ever use the abilities it gives you.2: this was the main complaint I have with BoTW was that the bosses were terrible and repetitive.they were just the same thing rehashed over and over, and yes the last boss was a letdown. Those are the main complaints I had with the game.I have some minor complaints like the shrines are boring after the first couple of them.Sadly you have to do them for hearts and stamina.....blah stamina.

I'll probably rent the Wii U version on Gamefly soon. That was the first game I wanted to rent when I renewed my account, but the high demand made it impossible to get so for now I'm renting Paper Mario: Color Splash. But I look forward to playing Breath of the Wild hopefully not too long from now. Rent it on Wii U, but possibly buy it or just rent it again when I eventually own a Switch.

Question for you, which is better, skyrim or breath of the wild? Game informer ranked the 100 best RPGs, naming skyrim as number 1, do you agree?

Haven't come close to beating it yet, but based on what I've seen I think it's story and characters are pretty weak compared to other games in the series. There's no one who stands out like Midna or Groose so far, and the overall narrative does suffer from how open the design is. It's a story that gets the job done, but not really any more than that. The divine beasts are also a disappointment. I loved the Zora divine beast, but the other ones felt too similar and stand out in a game that has so much diversity. At least the shrines provide that puzzle feel even if they are also too aesthetically similar to each other. I know people complain about the weapons breaking, but I never found that to be annoying. Most weapons seem to last at least 30 hits, which is longer than the criticism made me expect. The level of freedom the world and the physics engine offers is really something else. While I dislike that all the weapons are pretty much just hit the Y button over and over as opposed to being able to swing the sword in any direction, the various ways you can approach each combat situation to either make hitting the y button easier or to avoid hitting the y button altogether make up for it. It's a great game. One of my top 3 Zeldas alongside Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword, but I do feel that the controls, story, dungeons, and characters were better in those 2 games. Of course, neither had the amazing freedom or world to explore, so it may top them in my eyes once I've 'beaten' it, but there are enough things other Zeldas that that is not assured.

It's...Good. I'm about 40 hours in and enjoying the exploration most of all, the shrines, and the locales. With that I agree with all the gushing reviews. However, I don't like the new temples, the "official" temples. At all. I find them illogical and boring. I also find the game can be unfair or at the very least, unforgiving. My Link would seem to be optimized to fight Guardians but they still walk all over him. And Guardians specifically catch you in "shot loop" when you cannot recovered from a hit, aim, and kill one before they deliver the next inevitable hit on you forcing you to warp away as you literally cannot fire back before you're hit to death. This is said without discussion of the frame drops experienced on Switch or Wii U which are distracting. When hindsight is 20/20 I think we'll look back and see it as a bold, above average Zelda, but in five year's time I think we'll see some other entries such as Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask were clearly ahead of BotW.

The dungeons this time around are certainly a lot smaller scale than they used to be. I appreciated the callback to making the dungeon layout an animal shape ( LoZ NES ) but I've heard that feedback multiple times already and I can see where you are coming from. Older dungeons did a great job of offering enough complexity that they felt like a puzzle in their entirety. As you progressed from room to room you would slowly start to understand the fundamentals in how the dungeon was structured until you finally put it all together and find the Boss Key. I also shared those same experiences with the guardians and the framerate. Once I started stocking up on guardian arrows things got a bit better but overall I found myself avoiding them in general. Framerate was oddly inconsistent (I played on the Switch, undocked mostly). Especially in places like Koro Forest. Personally, though, I still feel like the pros gained from the open world exploration were enough to make me forget about any specific con I may have had. I guess we'll know in time how BotW will be remembered as compared to OoT and MM but at the very least the groundwork has likely been set for the next few iterations in the series. Also, thanks for watching!

Nathan Miller While I do love how good the lengthy traditional Zelda dungeons are, I appreciate that Nintendo really wanted to ditch all of that. I appreciate the effort to rip up the formula, even the things that people enjoyed, in the name of refreshing the franchise. But I don't enjoy underwater swimming in any game so I'm glad that's gone lol.

crappy bosses, dungeons and story. Seriously though, this game is a complete opposite of Skyward Sword, which is a good thing in some areas, but BOTW felt like all the emphasis was placed on the open world and everything else (imo all of the important things) felt like an afterthought. It doesn't feel finished, and it wasn't. I feel like if they take what was good in skyward sword and mix that with what was good in BOTW, that's when we will get the perfect Zelda game. Breath of the wild made a better elder scrolls than it did a Zelda game.

I enjoyed this game quite a bit, but it definitely wasn't my favorite. Its game mechanics are excellent and the game itself is beautiful. However, the story was somewhat lackluster and overall, it doesn't really feel like a Legend of Zelda game for me. There was just too much that's been changed since Skyward Sword, like Nintendo overcorrected for what went wrong with that one. For all the hype about how amazing the game was, I was expecting it to feel a little more familiar. I grew up with Windwaker and Twilight Princess, so this game just didn't feel right to me.
