People complaining about amiibo: 1. It's not necessary to play the game 2. It's an added bonus for people who own the amiibo (played TPHD) I get people's critiques but it just annoys me sometimes. I rationalize it as follows, may not be the same for everyone: 1. I want an economical Zelda collectible/figure 2. Amiibo are affordable 3. Amiibo has added uses 4. I purchase the amiibo as I want a cool figure and it has the added bonus of unlocking cool features in games - unnecessary but cool Should also add that a lot of games come with figures or statues as preorder bonuses. I would take an amiibo any day over a figure that does nothing. Sure my skull kid statue looks cool but the wolf link amiibo becomes a fricken companion in the new Zelda! I have many more points to make but I'll stop :p Should just quickly add that I'll definitely be against Nintendo hiding important features behind amiibo.

I always wonder of the reply would be different if it was locked behind an Amiibo AND a little paywall. That way you have the people that will pay 20$ or so for the figurine gladly and also have the feature, and people who just want a Wolf Link and get it for around 1$ to 5$. However that ruins the whole multi-use thing, but considering the other uses on other games would cost around the same money... idk, just neat to think about

I am very different. Though I haven't lived long enough to say I played all (or most) of the titles when they came out, I have been a Zelda fan for as long as I can remember. As a fan of this length, I can say that this game definitely does seem to be going into the legendary titles list like OoT (Ocarina of Time) did. If you want to play another LoZ game before this, I suggest any of these three: Ocarina of Time, Twilight Princess, or Wind Waker. I then suggest Skyward Sword after one or two of those. Though many people are critical against Skyward Sword (mostly just for the unique controls) I think that it is still a great title in the series.
