They hid the dragon's weakness to keep the dragons from destroying the knowledge (books/people that knew it). That said IRL "Gorge" entered Middle English from Latin through Old French (so similar words can be found in other Romance languages) and means "Throat" though that meaning in English as such has fallen out of use. So when Gilmore said in the gorge.. it was quite literal.

Hi critical Rope fandom member here, also known as a Critter. Been loving your reactions and as a long time fan of the show just wanted to give you a bit of info about the show and game, but don’t worry no spoilers. -Critical Roll started off as a home game run by Voice actor Matthew Mercer for Liam O Brien’s birthday (The Voice Actor for Vax.) The game was only supposed to be one session (better known as a “One shot”) but everyone involved loved it so much Matt made it into a campaign that lasted over five years. -Before their game began streaming on twitch they were actually playing Pathfinder. Once they decided to stream their game on Twitch they switched over to D&D 5th edition. -The name Vox Machina is Latin for “Voice Machine” a reference to all the players being voice actors. -Liam O’ Brien (Vax) and Laura Bailey (Vex) Share a birthday in real life. This coincidence was the inspiration to make their characters twins. -Laura Bailey (Vex) and Travis Willingham (Grog) are married. Marisha Ray (Keyleth) is married to Matthew Mercer, DM and creator of the work Critical Role and Legend of Vox Machina take place in. - While not a mad scientist Percy is the inventor of the first firearm in the Critical Role Universe.

Glad you're enjoying the show Miss Corinne. Don't worry about the names! It's a lot to keep track of but you'll learn it naturally just watching the show. Some fun bits of lore about dragons in D&D that aren't covered in the show implicitly: 1.) There are good, neutral, and evil dragons. Good dragons are metallic based (ie. gold dragons, silver dragons, brass dragons etc.). Neutral dragons are gem based (ie. amethyst, ruby etc.), and Evil dragons are chromatic based (ie. blue dragons, red dragons etc.). 2.) Dragons get larger and more powerful the older they get. 3.) Dragons have differing levels of intelligence as well as different hunting behaviors. (ie. green dragons are extremely intelligent and like to deceive and toy with their prey whereas white dragons are more bestial in nature and tend to hunt in a way more similar to wild predators) 4.) Some of the more intelligent Dragons are capable of harnessing the magic inherent in their nature to utilize powerful sorcery (which is how Brimscythe is able to shapeshift). 5.) Dragons have different types of breath weapons based off their subspecies. For example, green dragons can breathe a cloud of acid, red dragons breathe fire, and blue dragons like Brimscythe breathe lightning. 6.) Dragons have different preferences in habitats based on their nature. Black dragons for example like dwelling in swamps, whereas white dragons tend to live in colder more arctic environments. On a side note, I think the guy you were thinking of in the beginning was Reinhardt from Overwatch - whose voice actor actually has a role in this show incidentally!

@jebus76792 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't worry about not being able to keep track of Vex and Vax. People mixing them up is just a long running gag at this point. Funny that you should mention World of Warcraft though, because Laura Bailey (Vex) is the voice of Jaina Proudmoore and Liam O'Brien (Vax) is the voice of Illidan. And since you were actually thinking of an Overwatch character, Matt Mercer (Silas, half the background characters, and the brains behind the world) is the voice of Cassidy f.k.a. McCree. Also, you not being familiar with Critical Role means you have no idea how absolutely hilarious it is that you remembered Trinket's name and not Scanlan's.

While they were making their characters Laura and Liam (Vax) decided to have theirs be twins because they share the same birthday. Liam also helped Sam (Scanlan) make his character as Sam wanted to have just play someone utterly ridiculous. If you want to see a couple more DND dragons in action, the trailer for "D&D Honor Among Thieves" (coming out March of next year) has a black dragon dropping that acid breath and the bestest chonkiest red dragon (fire). There is also a white-looking dragon but that's just a statue that has been magically animated (you can see the statue version of it pretty early in the trailer). If it had been real, they have ice breath. On the floor of Brimscythe's secret room, you see a 5-headed dragon icon, which is the symbol of Tiamat, goddess of vengeance and evil dragons (the chromatics). She is actually a 5-headed dragon, with each head being one of the primary chromatic dragon colors (black, blue, green, red, and white).

Quick Dragon course from a D&D DM: 10 colors of dragons, called Flights. These colors represent their alignment and element. 2 classifications, Metallic and Chromatic. Metallic are associated with Good and Lawful, more Celestial/Divine. Chromatics are associated as Evil and Chaotic, more Infernal/Hellish. Red and Gold Flights are Fire based. Blue and Bronze are Lightning. Black and Copper are Acid. White and Silver are Cold/Ice. Green and Brass are Poison. (But not recently. Green is still poison but Brass is now sleep/fire cause poison is evil, I guess.) There are also the Gem Dragons that are associated with Planar travel and Dreams and stuff. They are Amethyst, Topaz, Sapphire, Crystal, Emerald, and Moonstone. These don't really have elements or alignments usually and some of them are psychic. They are weird. Interesting and unique, but weird.

1:52 I'm pretty sure the Reinhardt that you confused with Krieg is the big armor boy from Overwatch. At least, I'm not sure of another character by that name that I've come across that's essentially a giant suit of armor. Coincidentally, not that your plate isn't already full, surely, but Blizzard has released a number of amazing cinematic shorts based on the Overwatch universe. I think they're all between 6-10 minutes long and I've seen quite a few people who never played the game do reactions to them and really like them. Matt Mercer, the Dungeon Master for Critical Role, voices one of the characters of Overwatch and multiple other Voice Actors involved with the game have appeared in various ways within Critical Role campaigns. The actress who voices Symmetra appears later in this season in a bit of a side role and the Reinhardt actor joined to play with them for a stretch of at least one campaign. Regardless, Overwatch 2 is being released in October, so there's bound to be renewed interest in a lot of that content, as well, in addition to the cinematics just being worth the watch whether you're recording it for a reaction or not. I always recommend them when I have an excuse. If you did react to them, I'd watch the whole playlist, for sure. It seems like they might vibe with the type of stuff you get into.

I've watched other people's reactions to this series on other channels and nobody seems to notice a clever little bit of writing in the first episode. The audience's first clue that General Krieg was the dragon is actually when it makes an on screen appearance when Vox Machina first encounters it. The first thing it does is kill a lamb and the first thing we see/hear Krieg do is comment about everyone they've hired so far being "slaughtered like lambs."

There are also 5 metallic versions of dragons with the same abilities, but in waves instead of direct beams. Traditionally the metal dragons are good and the chromatic ones are evil Of course this is in DND, the show can do what it wants to stretch the rules, same as any DM can.

The main 5 Chromatic Dragon types are Red, Blue, Green, Black, and White. Red dragons, generally considered the most powerful, are you classic Fire-breathers, their MO is usually widespread destruction and chaos. Blue dragons are almost as strong but generally a lot more subtle, they're the type to subjugate others to do their bidding and such, setting up their own little fiefdoms, as you saw in the show the breathe Lightning. Green dragons are the real schemers though, they delight in corrupting morals and mind games, they're the type to start a war by saying the right thing in the wrong ear, they breathe clouds of poisonous gas. Black dragons are sadistic swamp-dwellers, they delight in torture and pain, they breathe streams of acid. White dragons are generally considered the weakest Chromatic dragons, they're brutish, animalistic, and predatory, they breathe clouds of freezing vapor.

Depends on how you look at it. Whoever wrote the book was probably just penning verbal histories. Often those were told in poems to help them being handed down properly, to avoid the "telephone" affect. Basically, whoever wrote the book probably didn't know what it meant any more than Vax or us.

Red Dragon is Fire, and generally considered the most powerful. Blue Dragons use lightening, and are just below Reds. Green dragons breathe a poison cloud, and are the middle child. Black Dragons are next in power, and breathe acid. White Dragons breath weapon is cold/frost, and they are generally the weakest. Those are the evil dragons. There's good ones that are metallic, but they're not relevant to this particular story.
