Like, at least the legion tells you their motivations and end goals, and they're not even a complete faction. Bethesda had he time to write the FO4 factions and messed them all up. Which is honestly quite impressive, and I imagine we are gonna see factions that suck even more than this in Starfield, because Bethesda isn't exactly known for good writing. Unfortunately.

I always kinda' thought this version of Legion armor recreated in Fallout 4 really lacked character. Sure, Legionnaires are mostly uniform but their ramshackle armor gives some room for individuality born out of the fact they're wearing salvaged armor.

@@wartomakemakemusicto If i recall, legion armor when progressing in rankings isn't supposed to be uniform lore-wise outside of recruit and prime ranks, as it's the legionary adding more and more armor pieces to their own as trophies of their victories. It's why legion armor has such weirdly high variance for a faction meant to suppress individuality: their personalities are their battle victories on display. Also quite ironic too for that exact reason.

This. From what I can tell about the Legion fighting the NCR they completely lack the resources to really stand much of a chance, the NCR seems to lack coordination and logistical capability to really enforce an advantage against the legion and the legion lacks the technology, so realistically whoever wins is entirely decided by who the Courier supports. The East coast BoS doesn’t exactly have these issues after Fo3 being stationed in the Capital Wasteland, and assuming you go with the BoS ending in Fo4 the legion could literally do fuck all against Liberty Prime Lastly, there’s way too many people using guns for this to actually be Caesar’s legion.

@@pain6874 The Legion did fight the Brotherhood in the midwest and they won handedly the Legion is just as industrious and as militarily as powerful as the NCR its just that they don't have specific military engineers so most of their army consist of HIGHLY trained from childhood disciplined soldiers which no faction in the East Coast has. Bethesda hasn't really established what separates Eastern Chapter from Western Chapter besides ideology but if their tactics are the same then the Legion wins undoubtedly they proven they can do it with the Midwestern chapters Centurion is made of pieces of Power Armor. That's really the issue of Bethesda's take on the East Coast there's no actual... Countries, none of the factions are real ideologies beyond specific issues rather then representing tribes/culture or any kind of power that could reasonable project power, Caesar's Legion while not a country per se it is effectively a nomadic army that forces civilization in the places it conquers considering how chaotic the East Coast is most people would accept Legion rule if it means security is 100%. The same can be said with the NCR if they showed up with their wealth and influence then they wouldn't need to fight they can just claim they own the land whos gonna stop them? raiders that everyone hates? militia that can't do what the NCR can do? a single group of scientists or the Brotherhood neither seem to be interested in nation building? Point is Bethesda sucks at world building and they lack creativity

I think the Gunners or the Institute can defeat the Legion as they are very organizeds. The Minutemen would be best fading into the Wasteland and going allout VC on the Legion. The BOS is nearly like the Legion with a highly developed religious bent. The BOS like the Knights Templar, Knights Hospitalar and Tuetonic Knights merged together equipped with high techonology and they have Air Superiority.

@@bobafett9348 I don't think they have that many, california only has a few hundred thousand people in it both civilian and military alike and california has a lot more people in it compared to other parts of the wasteland because of people immigrating to it lets assume caesars legion has 200,000 people living in its territories, they don't assimilate everyone they come across into their army they do have civilians and towns and cities, only the tribals and enemy forces so they would have 50,000 soldiers at the least and 100,000 at the most, but not hundreds of thousands or millions

I can't see them beating the Institute. They have no way to find it, and in the meantime the Institute can indefinitely crap out additional security synths and coursers to go fight them. Unlike the BoS, they also lack any form of teleportation jammer for their camps so the Institute can just teleport combat units direct into Legion encampments while the bulk of the legionnaires are sleeping. Given their use of surveillance birds (lol) they'll always have the recon advantage too.

The legion attacking before the arrival of the brotherhood would be disastrous. Because the gunners would be the ones to pull together to drive them back. If the conflict moved to warfare with entrenched positions the gunners would resort to press-gangs. The legion would be repealed (unless the frumentari pulled off enough shenanigans), but the commonwealth would be run by gunners as neo feudal lords, with raider auxileries and enforcers.

If Lanius were the one in charge for sure, but it depends on the legate and there are other legates Caesar can send. Based on what I know from the Legion first they would send their spies to the major settlements like diamond city to gather intel on the major players and threats in the area. Then they would send their explorers to scout, then the untested troops to clear out raiders and hostile wildlife from the many empty settlements, then send normal people from their territories to populate them. The Legate from here extends an invitation to the scattered minutemen to join the Legion like they did the Kings. Then using their gold backed currency to their advantage, they pay the gunners to attack super mutant settlements while the more hardened Legion troops clear out the more fortified raider gangs, like at Saugus Ironworks for cross decorations. Raider gangs foolish enough to attack Legion settlements take priority. After all hostile wildlife has gone extinct and the remaining raiders have retreated to Nuka-World, it gets difficult because the BOS will notice the Legion encroachment after the BOS attempts to collect technology in Legion territory and get attacked by strangely uniform and organized raiders.

@@joelcastillo5828 this is an interesting scenario (and well thought out). However it is exactly the kind of scenario that would get the institute involved. They would stay out of the way of a marauding horde of raiders, but not nation builders engaging in diplomacy and espionage. Once the legion starts getting pulled apart by synth infiltrators things are going to get ugly. I imagine there would be plenty of military and civilian purges. When the brotherhood showed up they would focus on breaking the legion, and dealing with the institute would be the secret “real mission”. Under current leadership against the legion brotherhood recruitment would spike, but they would also mass conscript and probably engage in thinly veiled slavery. I’m not sure there would be a winner. If that happens then either the legion settles in as a major player or collapses and cannibalizes itself.

The Legion would have no way of countering the Institute's ability to teleport cursor hit squads and kidnap Legion leadership in their sleep and replace them with synths. Unless the Legion somehow learned beforehand the Institute's teleporting range is limited to the classical radio waves, but the people that know of this are very few. It's very unlikely Dr Vergil or Dr Zimmer would willingly tell them, not that the Legion would ever know to ask. Unless the Legion know to destroy all the radios in the commonwealth that play classical, they lose. Shaun might sympathize with the Legion's ability to bring order to the wasteland, having been unhappy with the commonwealth provisional government, so maybe they kidnap Caesar and use him to destroy the NCR. I have no doubt the Legion could defeat the brotherhood, but they lose hard to the institute.

the legion is not opposed to using energy weapons, most people think they would because theyre "opposed to technology" but thats not the case, only a select few branches of technology such as medical technology, power armor, robotics, basically "cheating" technology the main reason you dont see legionaries using energy weapons is because of numbers, they still mostly use football pads for armor and lawn mower blade machetes, theyre not industrialized and cannot arm a large portion of their forces with rare energy weapons

I would love to have seen the Legion reverse engineer some of the BoS Battle Armor. Repairing ones they destroyed in conflicts. Even giving them their own Legion motif, complete with full legionnaire regalia adorned on the armor. Imagine a few trained legionnaires Stomping into battle wielding some ginormous swords and looking like something out of Warhammer 40k. However, instead of shouts for the emperor you hear shouts of "For the LEGION!" Mmm yes, that's the good stuff. lol

I was playing a legion playthrough like a month ago. used mobius legion armor, download some mods for melee weapons and less guns, idk what he used to get all the troops but I just use falloutcommander mod, get like 32 followers that way + dogmeat+ Preston or other, + ghost and price mw3 followers, + me almost a full 40 man troop. Yeah you’ll crash eventually lol 😂😂

McCarran has (ingame) 16 soldiers + 5/6 First Reccon men stationed outside the main building. They say they have a hard yime keeping the fiends in check. The fiends...Inside the building there are around 20 soldiers (2 Salvaged Power Armored ones at some point). The Legion has 2 members inside already (one undiscovered spy and a captured Centurion). An assault on the camp by an equal number or legionaires (veterans/recruits) would deffinetly destroy the NCR stationed there. Imagine if they send some Legion Assassins to soften the forces inside the Camp. No way they can witstand a full Legion attack. I mean they took Nelson with a third of the number of what NCR had stationed there and stopped to hold it just because they were ordered to.

A lot of people in the comments understimate the legion by saying theres no way they could defeat the BoS of the east coast or the institute but in the game you could defeat then with a bunch of hippyes like the raildoad, the video is very accurate really the legion could take the commomwealth only with numbers in NV they already owns arizona and a part of california by the time they get to east coast they probably already owns half of the country and in the video they were only legionaries and vixes they were no pretorians, centurions, elite Centurioned and the legate hit squad.

No one is underestimating the Legion. The way they are portrayed and written in New Vegas makes them laughably bad. The writers desperately tried to add lore to make them seem cool, but in the end, I can't see any reason the NCR wouldn't just mow them down by the thousands in any confrontation. I always had a chuckle when I saw their goofy little hit squad run up so they could die and give me their weapons.

Look up mobius legion armor. It’s just armor packs on Xbox idk if PC is different. He’s got flags for the workshop to. The power armor I couldn’t get to not crash my game, so I stuck to both his legion armor mods and the legate armor mod. I’ve been playing a legion playthrough but it crashed earlier today. Was planning on making a yt channel for it to but I guess not lmao 😂

So on this battle I want elder maxson, captain Kells, paladin danse, 30 power armored brotherhood of steal soldiers, 40 brotherhood knight soldiers and paladin soldiers, Preston garvy, marcy long, Sturges, tinker tom, 33 minute men that has armor, laser muskets, pistols, and knifes, Desdemona, deacon, piper, 20 diammond city soldiers, nick valentine, Hancock, curie, macready, cait, 29 railroad soldiers, cosworth, strong dog meat, Ronnie shaw, sheffield, vault tec rep, and proctor Ingram, vs the styths and father in this battle please? There's no way the Legion would ever succeed in taking the entire Commonwealth, this is just power fantasy

I mean they probably would at the time of fallout 4. The commonwealth has no centralized government or military, the minutemen are the closest thing to that. They are barely existent at the beginning of the game. The BOS is more then likely going to prioritize D.C. over the Commonwealth. So I don't imagine they'd have a large force present. The Railroad would be able to do jack shit in a conventional war, so they would have to resort to guerilla tactics. The institute has the technological advantage, teleportation, synths and laser weapons. The question for them is, can they produce enough troops to fight Ceasar's legion? Which brings us to the fact that Ceaser's legion is nearly comparable to the NCR, which probably means they can field tens of thousands at least. If we look at the commonwealth, in game each settlement can only hold twenty two settlers without counting items with charisma buffs. There are thirty seven settlements including all DLCs, vault 88 gets an additional ten settlers. Which amounts to 814 settlers without mods or exploits. If I remember correctly the commonwealth map is about two miles wide and long which is downsized from twenty or so miles meaning if we multiply it by that we get just under sixteen thousand-five hundred population, not counting cities like diamond city or goodneighbour. Let's assume the BOS or Intitute is in charge and they conscript a quarter of the citizens. That's only a little more then four thousand troops. So one on one the Commonwealth is screwed. But let's be honest, the Legion nor the NCR would have much reason to invade the commonwealth, as they are on opposite sides of the continent and it would be a nightmare in terms of logistics. At most we might see a very, very lost scouting or diplomatic party. The latter most likely sent by a peaceful nation looking for prosperous trading partners. But we are more likely to see a war between DC and a future Commonwealth Goverment depending the ending you pick.

To add onto this, the Legion can't even take a fortified riverline like the Colorado river with a massive dam stronghold with their tactics and equipment, it's pure fantasy. If the NCR puts MG posts, snipers and riflemen that would create an unbreachable killing field in front of the dam on the eastern side where the Legion with their human wave tactics would be slaughtered like the zulu and WW1 soldiers. Furthermore if you look at the Legion's territory it's quite garbage. The states the Legion is in are actually the worst agricultural produers with the most sparsely populated states, while California is relatively densely populated and is the highest agricultural producer in the USA. The prewar Legion states like New Mexico, Arizona and Colorado only have 15 million people to the 39 million of California. Better yet, California alone produces 5x-10x more food and has many times more arable land than the land in the Legion, which is essentially sparsely populated desert. The Legion basically has a massive desert at their disposal, their economics is pathetic. So if you look at it realistically not only is the NCR centuries higher on the technological curve, which alone gives them a ridiculous advantage, they also have an economy which might be two millennia ahead and many a fold times higher arable land within their territory.
