I totally agree with you regarding the UV filter. once I had scratched the front element on my Zeiss Distagon. Zeiss wanted 1k to fix it. Nowadays i prefer to protect my assets, especially with SL lenses.
@vqview3 жыл бұрын
Ya for the price of a filter, its a no brainer in my opinion. Have to protect that leica glass!
@jonlieberman9972 жыл бұрын
I used to use protective filters on all of my lenses. I am totally convinced that my shots are better without the filters. If I have a good lens hood I will forego the filter and just be careful. If the lens hood is a pain to use I will often use a filter if I am banging the kit around. It just seems weird to spend 5,000 plus dollars on a lens to only top it off with a 100 dollar piece of glass.

Hi Victor. Really enjoyed your video, and this was exactly what I was looking for - very informative. Maybe you can also do the SL summiux 50mm f1.4 comparison. I also had a question about your photo software that showed different lenses showing different background colors. You've probably set it this way, and what's the program? I actually like this, too. Thank you.

Hi and thank you for your comment. In this video I was using lightroom for my post editing, but I have now switched to Capture One, which in my opinion is a superior software. I would like to compare that 50 summilux, so hopefully Ill be able to produce that video soon.

Leica SL colors are so much better than SL 2 colors,as I can see from your images.I really don’t understand why someone prefer more megapixels,which at 99% of the cases are useless instead of much better colors ,better low light performance and overall better image quality.
@vqview2 жыл бұрын
Hi Nick, thank you for your comment. You are actually not the first person to bring up the color difference in the SL 601 and the SL2. I have been meaning to test them simultaneously and compare the results. Because honestly it has been a while since I have worked with an SL 601 file, so will need to test it again to compare. But to that point the reason I made the switch to the SL2 was more so for the video capabilities rather than the mega pixels. To be honest, I actually shoot in Aps-C mode a lot since most of my work ends up on social media and I really do not need the extra megapixels.

The Summilux M seems much more pleasing for portraits with this swirly out of focus background and the kind of softness gives a less digital / clinical look in my eyes. Also i guess the girls like to have a smooth face and not see all the pores in the face^^ For product or landscape photography i guess the SL Summicron Lens is better.

Hello Victor: First of all, congratulations on your videos. What is your impression of the Nocti 0.95 with the SL2? Another question... Isn't the SL2 more comfortable with its hand grip? Thanks a lot. Greetings from Alicante, (Spain)
@vqview3 жыл бұрын
Hola Pedro, I really enjoy using the Nocti on the SL/SL2 because of how big and bright the EVF is. It really helps when trying to focus the lens. As for your second question, yes the SL2 I would say is more comfortable because of the extra groove design they implemented in it. I think it was a game changer.
