They all performed flawlessly every time they sang. So much talent. I was so in love with Kathy growing up. She is mesmerising.

There's another video of them singing this song in 1956. It's interesting to compare them. The girls are smiling more in this one (as if instructed to) except for Janet, who smiled as much in the earlier video (which you'd expect at such a young age when she doesn't really understand the weight of the sentiment.) I think they all developed rather affected smiles while singing, probably due to constantly being told to smile for the camera. They have nice smiles but the smiles don't feel quite natural always. It's obvious that they practiced long and hard, because they are just about flawless, singing together and in harmony.

I agree. They do smile too much sometimes but I think they all had beautiful smiles. I do wish Welk, or whoever instructed them, would have them smile less on songs like this though. When they get their own show you see them have more serious expressions when singing sad songs so it was definitely something they were told to do.
