I love how much SpongeBob's strength varies. In the cartoon they have an episode where he can't bench-press q-tips and then this game implies he tore the pelt off of an undersea leopard.

This was one of my first PC games, next to Employee of the Month! Revisiting this game really threw me for a loop when I understood all the adult jokes that Sandy had made

What I find particularly interesting about this title in AWE's SpongeBob PC game series is that it's the only one that has more of a 3D (pre-rendered) art direction for its environments (backgrounds and stuff). The other games use more of a hand-drawn style that matches the TV show more.

I’m not sure if many people experiences as well but I have no idea how little kids even got past the Sandy Lasso stage it takes me multiple tries to finish usually

So, I wasn't the only one who was frustrated with this game as a kid. I couldn't beat any of the first levels, it was so frustrating!

Ah, this one. I remember my dad bringing this one home from Circuit City when he bought a DVD player and helping me install it. My dad and my mom played this with me a lot because it was the hardest one, easily. I remember loving parts of this game as kid and hating parts of it as a kid. Mermalair is sheer hell, but I remember really enjoying the Dutchman's Graveyard and Kelp Forest. The raft game and the one where Mr. Krabs fights the robots are huge nostalgic memories for me and remind me of one nice morning in like 2004/2005 where my grandmother came over and played it with me. This one for some reason has the most memories associated with it, good and bad. That damn fucking arm game in the Chum Bucket is one of the biggest memories for how hard it was. It took me and my mom like an hour and a half the first time to beat. I think that's what probably makes this one my least replayed of the bunch, as when I was young I remember it being hard to finish, so I stuck with the other ones. What's crazy is that I found out the PS2 was the real version of the game through this one. I thought this was the main game but when I saw the PS2 version in stores I was shocked. I remember being so excited to play the PS2 version and it was so much better it blew me away. So in many ways I'm glad I played this one as it made me aware of the PS2 version and gave me great memories, but also reminds me of great days playing with my parents. It is not the best of the six, because as you said this one was very wonky. I don't think it's the worst either. It was a mixed bag. I honestly like Operation: Krabby Patty more, for the cutscenes alone. The humor, energy, and dialogue was better in the first two games. Still a fun time.

Yeah, that arm stage still puzzles me to this day. But this game definitely exudes nostalgia. I also feel particular nostalgia toward the Flying Dutchman's Graveyard, maybe because that was the first stage I ever played. I had this one before I had any console versions, but I knew how different they were because my friend had one on the PS2. I have this one memory of telling her that I beat the game and she was so astounded by it. She didn't know the PC version was different.

@@lucililium The crate level with the pretty music in Dutchman's Graveyard is one of the most cherished memories in my childhood. Whenever I put on that OST is like sheer bliss to me. Reminds me of childhood memories I forgot to time. I remember a kid at school had played it as well but he had the GameCube version, and I thought that was different so I begged my parents to get me a GameCube lmfao, they did not cave. I later played the GameCube version when I got my Wii like two years later and being like "glad I didn't force my parents to get a GameCube," lol. I also remember that same guy gave me his second copy of Supersponge when mine broke. He was such a nice kid, I wonder what happened to him.

Messing with some of the files to get the game running on the steam deck usually running some older versions of proton 6 usually fixes some of the graphic glitches in the games

I'm pretty sure somewhere in my folder of childhood doodles I still have the code for the Hall of Arms minigame written down. Had a real soft spot for these games as a kid, though I was definitely disappointed that BFBB wasn't a straight port of the console game.

I always regretted not writing it down/memorizing it because whenever I replayed it I got the arms stage and it pissed me off. 😂 So many hours wasted on that stage.

Imma shoot ya straight, I had this version as a kid, my sister and I would play it together. One of my strongest memories involves is taking turns in the bowling mini game and trying to beat each others high scores. And immma be real I DIDNT KNOW THERE WAS A CONSOLE VERSION FOR AT LEAST 13 YEARS 😅

I always thought that the reason Plankton couldn’t just flick the obey switch to off is simply because of his small size, but it is still baffling why he didn’t just figure out a way to reach it, at least in the console game it makes sense because he was kicked out and couldn’t just get back in with the tight security system.

Communism is definitely Mr. Krabs' archenemy. In the episode "Squid on Strike" Spongebob literally destroys the Krusty Krab to fight against Mr. Krabs' capitalist tyranny.

I remember getting this from my aunt for Christmas 2004. I was excited that it was another game compared to the console bc I could have "2 different versions" but as a kid I only ever beat the PC version. Go figure

There are a few dirty jokes in spongebob but they are normally very subtle. This game was not subtle at all with the size doesn't matter joke than sandy literally laughing at her own joke
