Ana, I am taking my first Spanish class this semester. I am 60 years old and so I have resorted to KZbin for extra assistance. God has crossed our paths and I am so blessed to have found your lessons. You are a great teacher in that you also goof up sometimes. And yet, there are times that you catch me off guard and make laugh out loud, then my roommate looks at me funny. So, I am looking forward to viewing all of your videos throughout this semester and next. Love ya Ana Oh yeah....I'm Libra as well.....and also not into that, hahahaha

I love this girl! She does amazingly well to explain things most native Latin American speakers can't! Being a native English (Scottish) speaker & being married to a native Latin American Spanish speaker I've noticed a few things. The main one is that Latin American Spanish is a "learned second language" ie the Spanish is derived from a European place (Spain), and their Native language were Tribal languages. I say that's important because Latin Americans kinda do & say what ever they want, whereas Europeans (both English and Spanish) are stricter or more formal. Latin Americans are very informal and "play around" or have fun with the language, which is why there's so many variations in practice. Having a Peruvian husband, I would also say that him & his friends are "immature/ child-like", a kinder way is probably to say they have fun, he would say that too. Us British/ Europeans are quite formal, or "mature" or boring as my husband would say. We have a "sophisticated" use of language or are more uptight/ straight-laced/ correct/ grammatical basically a "formal" use of language. We are taught in school to be "correct" or use grammatically correct terms in our language. Latin American Spanish is the total opposite! Our use of the English language is what is _spelled_ correctly, whereas Latin American Spainsh is what _sounds_ better. The Latin American _use_ of Spanish is often to swap words/ cut words short/ spell words differently so they can make it sound better. We don't do this in English: we are taught at school that doing this isn't "correct". Being Scottish, we were told our Scottish words aren't proper English eg _aye_ and _naw_ for yes and no. We're used to being "told off" for not saying this properly. In some ways our Scottish _use of_ English is similar to the Latin American _use of_ Spanish! It's not quite as strict or proper or formal or correct. A European Spanish speaker would be more formal and correct. However most of the world uses an "informal" use of Spanish in daily life so I like Ana's explanations and mannerisms because, to be honest, this is what's used *in practice.* I do love my husband, that's why I married him. It's not so much as a "language-barrier" but a "sense of humour" barrier. Its funny because, after a few years of being together, I now get his sense of humour, after years of "not getting it" or thinking he was a bully. He used to call his son "mute" and his daughter calls everyone "fatty". He also calls me bendica (witch) and he used to call me something else which translates to fat ass. Whereas I would call him mi amor or mi carino (my love or my honey, like I often use "huni" with my family/ friends, but he is far more "derogatory" but he means it in a loving way, he just jokes around, I suppose it's like how a lot of my peers call people "bitch, biatch or my bitch" but I don't like those terms and that way of speaking but I do get it, I'm probably "sweeter" or nicer). I didn't like it at first, because I was bullied at school for being "fat" and "quiet" or "shy". However, to be fair, this is a _cultural difference_ in that in Latin America they just "take the mic" as we would say or "joke around" or be "jovial". They aren't being serious and aren't trying to bully folks (it felt like that being in a group of his friends). If a group of English people were to say the same things, it would turn quite nasty, as we "take things to heart" or "take it personally" and folks would turn violent as it would be seen as a "verbal attack". Unfortunately I've learned this cultural difference a bit late and I have learned to avoid being in a group of his friends because it felt like they were attacking me, when all they were doing was "having a laugh" or "having a bit of banter". Both my husband and me didn't really know or understand these differences when we met and he didn't notice it, I did, although he thinks I don't get his sense of humour, but I think it's a bit childish/ playground, but I still love him nonetheless, same with Ana (not that I'm being patronising but someone might take it that way, its just that we had this type of humour at school, but then "grew out of it", maybe we're just "old & boring" I don't know). I'm much more observant and _articulate_ than what he is. And I'm able to write far better than what I speak ie I can write reports but I can't do public speaking (I get way too nervous). That's another cultural difference: Latin Americans are far more confident speakers than writers (and in English it's the other way round: we are far better writers than speakers, thats why we have a lot of reports and paperwork in our jobs). If you've read all that well done, you've reached the end! 👏 Hope that helps, much love and many blessings to you ❤️ 🙏

In Philippines, we also call Cacahuate as 'Mani'. A lot of words are very similar perhaps because of Spanish colonization hundreds of years ago. We even have a Spanish creole called 'Chavacano' which sounds like a Spanish but also has been influence by other Phillippine languages like Cebuano, etc.

But I love the way you teach I feel Good about my chances of retaining what you are trying to teach me. Christopher Monti H has only sound when it is CH as in Chatanooga Choo Choo. So... really is not a sound in Spanish. But if you hear some of us saying Cacahuete as if it sounds Cacagüete... please forgive us. We bad... in Spain is not rare to hear this... Aswell we write Queso but it sounds Keso. (Cheese). War. Guerra. We don't pronounce the u. It seems in the past we got some ink overstock...

Hi Anna, I really enjoy your Spanish lessons, you are a really good teacher and very humorous, I am in UK and a frequent traveller to Spain. It so nice when you compare Latin American Spanish speak with Spain speak. I like the Latin version. Please can you also setup a PayPal to make donations. Thank you so much😊😊😊😊
