The problem with Apple is ownership. Apple can block your account or your devices, and the things you paid for become expensive bricks. You cannot forbid them doing it on their own discretion. Apple controls what you can or cannot install on your portable computers (iPhones, iPads, Vison Pro). And you can really do nothing about it. You paid - they own. Their computers can be different things to an extent, but they'll probably change it rather sooner than later with those T2 chips and their general attitude "Giving the end users admin/root rights on their own devices is soooo dangerous (for our business model)".

@@MrDecessus That's a red herring. If that's your main concern you can always choose to not install another store and stick to the apple store. On both the Windows phones and the android phones I owned I had to actively change a setting to allow sideloading and in case of the latter install alternative stores. And knock on wood, I've not been hacked despite sideloading on just about any phone. There's nothing stopping apple from saying that they can no longer curate apps and reduce risks for you. As long as they don't lie and claim that if they don't do that you are unsafe, there is no reason to assume Epic or Valve or any other store couldn't curate their content just as well as Apple.

A good possible factor to Steamdeck success has to also do with Valve's/Steam's reputation. Gabenomics being that other than the largely voluntary Lootboxes, is actively known for NOT bending their user base over barrels or otherwise other ProfitMaxing memes. Additionally the occasional business or political stunt to blame Valve for unfair monopolistic practices keeps (more or less) backfiring and bring some public awareness of how much Valve is just straight up a good company with a good product/service.

Eventually they had to do replacements for one year model due to a class action ruling. Ask the other year models with the exact same issue were shit out of luck. The main issue with this set of net neutrality rules, they wanted all packets to be seen the same. This by nature would not be good as it may require VoIP packets and FTP packets to be handled with the same latency. That could cause more problems than it would solve. Most of the net neutral rules made in the past 10 years create neutrality with bad definitions.

Something about difficulties producing their new AI enterprise chips, and also being a max capacity in their Fabs. Starting to paint the picture that Intels investment and expansion of their new fabs couldn't be coming at a better time. The looming market crash and impending "depression" hanging over the economy could be good for Intel too. Unemployment is low atm, once the crash happens, unemployment and mass layoffs will happen. Should make it easy for Intel to find employees then to fill out its new fabs as they go live. I'm fairly excited for Arrow lake with so many changes coming to the next Gen. I'm curious how it'll actually perform, and wondering how much of an efficiency gain we'll see with 3nm and the new GAA process. I can't wait for the reviews and comparisons.

According to the financial news white collar/tech workers have been facing layoffs across the industry. Aside from that most people at production facilities are often trained on site for the position, unless prerequisites are required. I'm a trucker hauling glass, though I haul some other commodities as well. I frequentl the same production plants all the time and their turnover rates are terrible, and got worse since COVID. One of Intel's new Fabs in Arizona should be up and going soon, along with TSMC's Fab there soon. I'm certain plenty of the tech workers in California hurting for work would probably migrate next door for a job. I'm just speculating based off of the news or information I have access too, and my observations working with similar industries in manufacturing. My grandma used to work at a semiconductor facility way back in the day, soldering things onto boards, and later ran a Apple/Macintosh repair business with my step grandpa. She was trained on site when she got the job, and had no prior experience in electronics beforehand. Just a perspective outlook on possibilities. It's kinda the point to factory jobs when your hiring hundreds to thousands to work the facility. Your trained on site and only required to be capable of doing a repetitive task. There's only some tasks that may require a certification, license, or degree. Most manufacturing jobs only require a capable body, a HS diploma/GED, and a way to get to work.

If they Fumble this too hard and people get burned those customers are lost forever.
