Fun fact: Luna (the guild lady) and Ruffian (the guy with a mohawk that welcomed Kazuma) are characters that debuted in the anime and are basically glorified extras due to their VAs being somewhat known. Luna was added to the LNs much later, while Ruffian is still an anime original character, so almost everything involving them are just gags/not relevant to the plot. The LNs/WNs are somewhat old and did a bunch of stuff before certain isekais did/inspired stuff (it also was written when the Isekai genre was getting bloated and was refreshing, leading to it becoming incredibly popular for being at the right time and place (Konosuba is now part of the Akatsuki-verse with two other series being in the same universe/multiverse, has 3 Seasons, Spin-offs, a movie, LNs, a gacha game, two VNs, two Dungeon Crawlers, and a TTRPG.)

What is funny is that Kazuma believes he maxed out his points to become an adventurer or Ranger. He actually ends up as the Best Rogue but he never admits to it especially because he becomes the richest person in that world at the end of the series. Also Aqua is responsible for every Demon lord in that world, every Demon lord was originally an Isekai person. The spinoff series where Kazuma becomes the new Demon Lord is amazing but sadly probably never become an anime.

The light novels character designs are quite nice, so at first I was really disappointed with the anime character design derpiness. But, the anime really leans into the derpiness, and uses it to enhance the comedy, so I no longer have any complaints. I will say that the newest season, which has a new studio, is a bit closer to the light novel designs.

The Thing with Konosuba is: Im pretty sure this anime was inspired by some kind of wierd DND session.

It was partially inspired by the Western game: Wizardry (a dungeon crawling game that’s incredibly hard with unfair/crazy stuff and some humor, like one of the weapons is based on the Cuisinart and is described the same way as the food processor.) Wizardry is inspired by DND, but also it’s own thing and inspired games like Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy.
