The sheer amount of work it’s gotta take to learn all of these instruments is impressive
@Jwellsuhhuh2 жыл бұрын
Not really… only a dozen or so actually “different” instruments. Percussion arguably doesn’t count, variations of the same instrument are easier to learn once you learn the first instrument. Mastering one instrument is definitely a much larger task than learning the superficial basics of a number of instruments

I count 15 different methods of producing sound, not including the otamatone or any of the percussion. Here's the list: flute method (I couldn't find a better name), single reed (see below), upright string, piano, harp, guitar, neck string, brass (see below again), recorder/air method, double bass, accordion, native flute (? idk I've never heard of it so I counted it outside of the flute group), double reed, mallets, 1/2 size cello thing. Maybe category: autocharp??, kalimba?? I grouped the single reeds as one as if you have the single reed embouchure down, you just need to tweak it al little to play the other instruments of its category. I don't play a single reed anymore, but one of my good friends in band plays clarinet and picked up bass clarinet pretty quickly. I did the same with brass due to the same reason. I once again don't play brass, or at least multiple brass instruments, but it seems that you can pick up others easy if you know one, unless you are going from like piccolo trumpet to like tuba. Idk what a native flute is or if its like a flute in any way so I was lenient on that. Also I did count the different ways of holding a string instrument and playing them in different categories. Mallets arguably don't count along with the autocharp and kalimba. You could also not count harp or piano. Or even if you were more strict, not count like recorder or accordion or guitar. So like its from 5-15 "unique instruments" in total
@Jwellsuhhuh2 жыл бұрын
@@gamertime7079 I appreciate your analysis. It's no doubt very debatable as to what counts as a "variation" of an instrument. Learning how to play 90 instruments regardless of their similarity to each other is still a feat. and I think I dismissed that fact a bit too much in my first reply. By "percussion doesn't count" I meant unpitched percussion like tambourines, castanets etc. since they are not playing the full "lick" just the rhythm. I still think pianos marimbas etc could count as idk "keyboard" instrument.

@@joejoe5081 So you're telling me that, because I can play flute, I can claim "I can play 1million different instruments!" just because there's 1million different flutes that exist? Obviously not an exact figure or anything, just sake of argument.

ngl backing track is the best part. The lick itself is just background to the bass, violin, piano, and other background instruments that make it sound good.
