Give and it shall be given unto you ; good measure pressed down shaken together and running over shall men give back into your bosom. 3 things if you do in secret God will reward you openly: 1.Praying 2. My cousin was a single mother of 2 girls. Her girls father never give her any child support . By the time she paid all of her bills, there was little money left. Since she couldn't afford much entertainment On Fridays she would rent movies to watch at home with her girls. The pastor at her church told that she needed to stopped renting movies and use the money that she was using to rent movies to title to the church. She walked of that church and never returned.
@LifeOnHoth8 ай бұрын
This is exactly what this guy is teaching. Let's sit down with her and figure out why she can't give. Honestly, it's horrible. While he all the time says we treat rich and poor the same, and nobody will know and u give what u want and can, he also says that we will miss out if we don't give much. I believe in churches helping. I used to go to a church myself. Until it was enough bs going on. I was told to give. And I had no means of giving. It was hard enough to pay the annual membership fee for the family at one point. Not that I had to pay to attend. But it felt right to at least pay what it cost to be members (was like 50 bucks a year for the whole family) since it was my church etc. Then comes the bugging about giving more. "Everyone can afford to" "give more and get more back" "nobody here have so little money that they can't give at least something". The guy doing the church's book knew we didn't have much, and told us to not listen to them. Give only if you feel you can. So many have been giving and giving and getting nothing back but a thank you for your contribution. That church should offer her to KEEP her money. Then they should buy her a gift card for rending movies just as a show of good faith, and then sit down and not figure out how she could give, but how the church can practically and financially help HER! Oh my I feel so mad when I hear stories like this. And I get so disappointed in churches like that. This one included (the pastor in the video above here). It's not about how can we serve each other. Oh no.... It's about how good can we look when we send so and so many missionaries. I get it -missionary work is cool and needed, but there are people right around our corners that need help for basic stuff. And yet, the churches either demand their money, or they'll tell you like this one - packing it up so it looks nicer - that you better give much, or you're gonna reap less than you could've. It's not different from anyone else that takes your money in church like that - he just says it in a way to make it look nicer. And in the process talking about context and using bible correctly, yet he has no idea what many of the bible verses he is using actually means. Churches will turn into country clubs in the blink of an eye. And one should have nothing to do with those churches.

I agree with mostly everything you've said up until your last statement. Christians should give as God has prospered us and as each one of us has purposed in our hearts, but we should never compare ourselves or try to live up to any percentage that the Jews were commanded to give. Just let the truth of scripture and sound doctrine through what the Holy Spirit has said unto the churches be it. Don't add your opinions to it, for then it could lead the churches astray. We are not called to air, preach or teach our own opinions but to faithfully deliver the message of the King of Kings and Lord of Lord's as obedient ambassadors of His Kingdom. Thanks very much for watching. However we do not believe it was his opinion. His own words were based upon the Holy Scriptures. Not quoted verbatim but the following verses support his statement. 1 Cor 2:7 Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God liveth a cheerful giver. 1 Cor 16:2 upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when i come. Also Bro James is trying to teach that the NT Christian is not bound by a law that was given to the Jews. Which is the primary teaching in our circles. He also mentioned that he thinks that one should do better than 10% if that is possible. He believes we should give all we can give to further the preaching of the Gospel. He often tells us that one that gives more for a cell phone, cable, automobile payment than we do the Lord it will bring shame when we stand before the Lord. When we have given more to temporal things than we did to the one that saved our souls. But it is totally up to each individual. Giving is a matter of the heart and as the scripture states God loves a cheerful giver. Again we thank you for watching and hope you will continue and remember that he was teaching one lesson and could likely preach several sermons on this one subject so all points were not covered but this was taught during a normal church service so is somewhat constrained by time expecations. But late 2023, I stopped giving my tithes and offerings because I realized that giving my tithes and that of my son is not making sense because despite of our efforts to help the church the pastor kept on scolding the members everytime he preached. You know, the only reason why the Israelites had to tithe was because a tenth of the land was God's because of Jacob's vow. Well, God told Jacob that He was giving the land to him. So, Jacob vowed a tenth of that land to God. This is why the tithe was mandatory for the Jews to give. A tenth belonged to God because Jacob gave it to Him. How have we missed this for so many centuries? This is not what we're taught about Jacob's tithe. Jacob said that he would give of all that God gave him. But, we just learned in a few verses before that God was giving him land. Read it all in Genesis 28. Jacob was talking about of all the LAND God was going to give him, he would give the tenth. We missed it completely. Jacob's tithe was fulfilled through his descendants. God took Jacob's vow seriously. Now, teach THAT pastors! So no, we DO NOT tithe!!! It was NEVER meant for New Covenant Believers!!! Give your money, but don't set a specific percentage unless God directs you to personally. Be free.

Scriptures in the old testament ( Deuteronomy chapter 14 verses 23-29) *"eat the tithe"* and if the place to bring the tithe was too long a journey, they could exchange it for money/silver then travel to the designated place, and when there they could use the money they exchanged it for to get the edible items and bring those items to be eaten by the levies, the foreigners the widows and the orphans. Malachi talks about those people being defrauded of what they should've gotten.

But people say the church is a spiritual Israel?? I so long to know the truth, I have studied this for 5 years now.....I just can't see that the ten percent tithe is for God's children. The other part is...when we Give...we give in many ways, not just money. Many people put ten percent on the plate, they have now given and that is it. They don't help anyone, pray for anyone, and character is lacking. But as the church keeps records at my church of what everyone gives, that person has the check mark no matter what else they do.

Ahh, Malachi was taken out of context. That scripture had nothing to do with people not giving their tithes and offerings. It was about the priests hoarding them and storing them in another place, outside of the storehouse for the poor where they were supposed to go. Israel was giving their tithes, the priests were diverting them. The tithe to the poor in the storehouse was given by the farmers and shepherds every three years. People in Israel that did not have land where they received grains, fruits, or animals from did not tithe. This is why the disciples and apostles of Yeshua who were fishermen did not tithe (however the men did pay a temple tax, but not the children). All together there were 4 different tithes. The tithe for the Levites did not go to the storehouse, that was kept separate for the Levites. Of the 4 tithes, only the every 3-year tithe for the poor went to the storehouse. Also, tithing was before governments took over care for the needy and required everyone to pay taxes to pay for those needs. All together the tithe was about 26% with the different tites added together, which is about the same tax rate that most people pay.

This sermon teaches a ton of truth, and you seldom hear this . But when you said the preachers that preach the tithe do so ignorant or that's just their tradition, with some I'm sure you're right but I believe there is a large percentage that do it because they have a love of money. Just look at all the millionaire pastors we have and all the huge multimillion dollar buildings we have serving as churches and fellowship halls. I showed my wife the tithe in duetorominy 14, I believe, and asked her why we never heard a preaching on this tithe, I was threatened with divorce, the hold of a this for that is strong. Which is why I hate false teachers.

The MORMON CHURCH have to pay Tithing 10% of their gross pay. It’s their law ! They have to pay before paying their rent, and food. They get reminded a lot of times. They use the Old Testament in Mal 3 that they have to pay, with out any excuse ! Thanks for sharing. I will share this , I no longer belong to Mormonism. Thank God !!

The tithe was never earned income. We were never under law of tithing. Over the years the tithe has changed it's meaning. Since we are not under that covenant anyway you give any amount.

Even in the agricultural tithe the 10 percent tithe was on the INCREASE ,in effect the harvest .you still had to leave some out for seed so the increase is after you have met your requirements needed to grow next year's crops

1 Corinthians 15:1-4 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; 2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. 3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; 4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

Exactly. And who are the needy saints in in 1st Cor 16? It was poor people among the christians in Jerusalem. It's very particular about this. If this teaches us something about giving, it teaches us to take care of the needy among us. And this preacher uses this verse to say that service is about giving and that there should be no collection (of money to him) when the preacher is there, but to have it ready when he gets there. This is really bad. Because churches like this couldn't care less about real situations that real people are in. They seem to live in a bubble where nobody around them is actually poor and needy. There is no excuse for this kinda abuse of the scripture. Church should be more about how can we practically and financially help the needy people around us than how can we get enough money for our fancy buildings and our 15 couples of missionaries in central Africa. IMHO.

Yes it started with the pagans. Abraham gave a tenth from his spoils of war not income. And the whole point of that whole passage taken in context in Hebrews isn't about tithing it's about Christ's eternal priesthood. We need to be careful too who the author is addressing , the Jews or us believers. Christ fulfilled the Mosaic law. But the moral laws of the ten commandments still stand of course. Bed led by the Holy Spirit to give with wisdom and give cheerfully 😊

Giving is for the poor saints predominantly... we don't need so many people in full time ministry... if everybody worked just like Paul and lived their calling as 'tent makers' the church would have achieved more... today's church is just not reaching the poor and unsaved as they should.

This preacher even at the end like many put guilt trips by naming what people spend their money on. Who cares let the people give cheerfully and by faith, not by shaming. If people give by shame guilt midas well keep the money. Pastors on pulpit getting paid and paying for commercial real estate should not be given money it is unbiblical

I'm I to understand that you're preaching that we're not under obligation to tithe but then you ask what do people do with their money that they can't tithe? You seem to be preaching tithing the same way others preach. If I'm out of work and behind on my bills, will the church donate to my needs?

Call what it is, what it is. If you dunk someone in water, would you say they were *_"anointed with oil"_* ? If you poured oil on someone's head, would you say they've been *_"baptized"_* ? If you want to "tithe" then eat it. Deuteronomy 14:23-29 If you want to give money, then give it.
@LifeOnHoth8 ай бұрын
Will the church donate to your needs? Yes. They should. He says NOTHING tho that leads me to believe he ever think that's what you're supposed to do. All he talks about is preachers and missionaries having their salary. It is an assumption about him that is strenghtened about the fact that he seem to think that nobody he knows about will have any problems finding money for the things they want. If you're out of work and behind on your bills, I'd not sit you down to see why you can't give (that's how prosperity preachers talk btw!). I'd sit you down and tell you man I feel your pain, I know you're in a tough spot right now, and I'd like to see how we can help you practically with getting you a job that you can manage to do and make an income and in the meantime, we'll figure out a way to help you with your bills.
