22:43 Advice to Youth....The part stating at 8:39 gave me goosebumps. GREAT interview with an amazing writer.

I recognize Lois by her face, for sure. I live not far from her in the same state, and always wished I would be able to casually run into her. The Giver had a gigantic impact on my life. I have various forms of it, and I will never stop loving it. It was my first introduction into dystopias, and it cemented my personality trait to question everything (something people in authority found/find to be threatening). My love for dystopias continue, and it is all because of her and the teacher who introduced us to the book. I was able to finally thank that 5th grade teacher for that impact, after running into her in my early 30’s, but Lois will likely never know. Her housing community had the first few deaths for the whole state during the pandemic. It was a worrying time period in general, but I found myself checking the news often in fear she was one of the ones who had passed.

@@manowatis1557 There was no vaccine back then, which was why it was such a worry.
