I pursued stage and entertainment as an adult, primarily inspired by Allan Sherman and Bill Cosby. Both made me realize how clever and creative one could be with comedy. This is a lovely short retrospective of a unique, quirky man. Thank you!

We had his albums growing up. I would go to school singing his songs. The kids thought I was weird but the teachers would laugh. I love his humor.

He was a very funny and talented man. I love his songs. One is Old King Louie 😂💖. The other one is the twelve days of Christmas. He died too young at 48. Died the day before his 49th Birthday. At least his songs live forever.

I've had his first 2 albums since the late 60's. Neither were new when I got them, but somehow, I can't remember how or where I got them from. I was in high school when he died. This is the first time I've heard about him dying.

It's funny - I know I'm going to be judged - but I sing it to my dogs and invent perverse lyrics (just Like Allan) 😎. But they probably don't appreciate my effort. Such a great tune. I do wonder why it's not popular.

@@Fomites Thanks for your response! I think if it got play time to the present generation, it would catch on again. Not enough humor in our uptight culture today. People would rather worship TS than have a good belly laugh.

"A Gift of Laughter" is not just funny (e.g., the four psychiatrists, Drs. A, B, C, and D). It tells some of the heartaches of his life (e.g., searching for his father, and then finding him).
