དེ་རིང་གི་ཁ་བའི་མི་སྣའི་ལས་རིམ་དུ་དུས་རབས་༡༡ པའི་ནང་སྐུ་འཁྲུངས་བའི་བོད་ཀྱི་ལོ་ཙཱ་བ་ཆེན་པོ་རྔོག་ལོ་ཙཱ་བ་བློ་ལྡན་ཤེས་རབ་ངོ་སྤྲོད་ཞུས་ཡོད། རྔོག་ལོ་ཙཱ་བ་ངོ་སྤྲོད་ཆེད་དུ་རྒྱན་འགྲེལ་སྦས་དོན་གསལ་བའི་ཉིན་བྱེད་རྩོམ་པ་པོ་དགེ་བཤེས་ལྷ་རམས་པ་བློ་བཟང་ཕུན་ཚོགས་གདན་དྲངས་ཏེ་བཅར་འདྲི་ཞུ་ཡོད།
The most complete Buddhist canons available today are in the Tibetan language, thanks to generations of great Tibetan translators like Ngok Loden Sherabwho as a prominent Tibetan translator and scholar of the 11th century. Born in 1059 near Yamdrok Lake in the Thongra area of Central Tibet, he spent 17 years in India studying Buddhism and Sanskrit. At the age of 17, he traveled to Kashmir, now part of present-day Pakistan, a region rich with Buddhist institutions at that time. He also studied in Bodhgaya.
Ngok Loden Sherab translated numerous Buddhist texts and authored extensive commentaries on philosophy and history. He returned to Tibet in 1092 and passed away in 1109.
Host Tsultrim Gyatso interviewed Geshe Lobsang Phuntsok, the author of a book on Ngok Loden Sherab, to discuss Ngok Loden Sherab’s life and enduring legacy.
