Frank's passing escaped my notice until I saw this clip! Thank you for the nice coverage of his career, and RIP to Mr Ifield. I have some nice childhood memories of his songs.

Frank made a huge impact on country / popular music in Australia - England - USA, always recall the Vee-Jay 12" LP throwing him up against The Beatles, what more can I say they both made and idelible impact on world music during my life time.

Frank had one of the best and warm voices i've ever heard. I was about 5 or 6 years of age when I heard "I Remember You" and the " Yodelling song " . How spoilt we were in those days with the wonderful music on our records, and the marvellous shows that were common on ou little 19" B&W SETS OF THE PERIOD! Now its just an unmitigated mess!!!

Frank was my mother's favourite singer. He and I used to catch up for lunch a few times every year. As well as being an outstanding and successful performer, he was a true gentleman and a fine, humble, kind and generous human being.

I was sitting by the river Thames near Kingston on Thames bridge in Surrey UK in my lunch time listening to my small radio, when they announced that Frank Ifield had sold the incredible total of over 100,000 copies of I Remember You in one day unheard of then in Uk alone. It went to number one. I later saw him on the same bill with the Everly Bros although there was only Phill, Frank Opened the show and practically stole it.

His was one of the stand-out voices when I was a kid. Despite being of the boomer generation who revered `pop bands' and scorned the crooners as passe, I was won over by the warmth and wide scale of his "I Remember You'. Thanks for his resume; he seems to have been a regular gent...

The vids on this channel are just superb. So much research and I keep waiting to catch them out but no...totally nailed. How about doing John Goodsall and Jim Dewar ? . Both seriously underrated and vital to 70's music.

@@HarmonyHeartsLifestyle-ul5yv He was with Stone the Crows but later the vocalist and bass player with Robin Trower through all those early albums. I love Robin who is a neighbour but Jim cemented that band through 6 albums.

In my opinion, once Frank no longer had Norrie Paramor to produce him, his career was in a downward spiral. Don't get me wrong, I was a massive fan of his and was lucky enough to be given tickets to see him at the London Palladium, but the next time I saw him live was at Stoke Newington Town Hall a few years later. Frank and Norrie made a lot of great recordings together, but like I said, once Norrie was gone, so was Frank's chart success.

I think the onset of Beatlemania had a lot to do with the end of Frank's major record selling days. After his 3 #1 hits in a row, "Nobody's Darlin But Mine" entered the UK charts on April 11,1963. A week later the Beatles entered the charts with "From Me To You." The Beatles and the groups that followed didn't leave much radio time for the more traditional singers.
@tarquin45922 ай бұрын
@@walte153 That's a very fair point. I also think that if he had 'Please' and 'Just One More Chance' released as 45's instead of just on albums, they would have been a better choice than 'Nobody's Darling, But Mine.'
