In Britain we had a slogan during WW2, Dig for victory. So many people had life skills back then. Today health and safety experts would have a field day with this video, no Goggles, no oven gloves, no sheath for knife, open fire , spade had rust on it, etc etc...council would want to know what grade the wood is for burning...the list is endless. These life skills this young lady has learnt is from generations of hard working people, these skills are what your men are using on the front line for survival. Here in the west we have become lazy, with ready made meals, tinned food and super gadgets to cook for us. Like the majority of viewers, I wish you good health and hopefully the Russian invaders will soon realise their errors and go back to their homes.Fantastic insight to your life and how we all once lived to survive

You're right, prosperity makes us lazy. Many Poles who went to work in Great Britain also noticed it. We still remember, but the longer we live in prosperity, the more young people forget about basic skills. For my generation that grew up under communism, this film is not unusual, but it stings my eyes that Ukrainians who left the USSR around the same time as us are still struggling with the problems we overcame decades ago. I don't mean a simple life but the fact that you can see in this film that there is not enough money for everything, although from her perspective it may turn out that I am wrong

well a lot of people are working various jobs on odd shifts, two parents working with kids or very broke, so that might be why - I don't eat any processed foods and cook from scratch and grow stuff, but who has the land to grow enough to be self sufficient nowadays in the UK - not many, I doubt people in the Ukrainian cities live like this. maybe the UK needs to have many things change, not just some lazy ideas about us being 'lazy'. it's a little bit more complicated than that.

I love it! Just walk out your back door and to the stocked pond, and catch a mess of fish. Add that to the rest of the dishes, and you are having a fantastic meal, with the freshest fish in the world! You count out 8 worms, and you catch 8 fish. Even your pond fish are frugal with their food. And your cooking skills are great. I wish I'd been taught to cook like this. You have nothing that is pre-packaged. All fresh and from scratch.
