Reminds me of my first job right out of high school. 2:09 we used those tables and hammered every plate in before the table lead would ride the roller across. Then we would pull it by hand to the rollers that went outside for final roller press. Then our yard guy would pull it off and stack it by hand. Glad that was my first job I got to see what work was all about. 12 hour days 6 days a week for about $7 an hour.

This is crazy considering what we do at our plant. This seems so old school. Even with that we never had anything like this.

@RobbyWorld1 LOL cause that's when most of the damage occurs in shipping. Watching a large roll off drop is like watching a large tree getting cut down. You can just hear and feel all the crunching lol.

Nice video, but include the offloading next time so folks can see how they get unloaded at the job site. :-)

Only if the driver doesn't know what he is doing. I've seen rookies break the 1st bottom 5 or so trusses by either rolling them off wrong ot onto unlevel, rocky ground. I've seen long term drivers pop the truck in 1st and pull out from underneath the load as it rolls off leaving the entire stack just as perfectly as it was loaded. The key is to drive out from under it as the stack is about 1/3 rolled off...

What is that roller for? 2:14 To still keep pressing the metal joints?
@TurkstraLumberco Жыл бұрын
Correct, it is a high-pressure roller that presses the already fastened metal plates even deeper into the wood to be as secure as possible. We have a newer one that you can check out in our updated Life of a Truss video available on our channel!
