I love Carpenter Bees! I’m from South FL and live in GA now. I was used to honeybees with stingers, so when I moved here and saw these GIGANTIC ALIENS, I was TERRIFIED 🤣 But as I’ve gotten to know them, they’re EXTREMELY friendly towards me and love being within my energy. They’re beautiful creatures!

I have carpenter bees in my yard and I'll bring out my glass of tea and just relax watching them. They'll come up to me at times to check me out but have never been aggressive towards me. They sound like little airplanes flying around me. Adorable. They must know they're safe here cause they stick around year after year.

I like my carpenter bees. Excellent pollinators. The males seem to make a game of killing flies and other creepy flying bugs, midair. Never been stung by one, but i still would love them. The red wasp, yellow jackets, hornets gotta die. The mud daubers are cool with me. They eat spiders. Thanks for the video!

How are they singles mom's if the males are just outside protecting the nest . And looking at how males are treated in nature before men had thousands of years of power Women had millions of years of social advantages. The Patriarchy's the new radical Change femisim is taking us backwards. We keep hearing how Women were opressed sense the begining of time or beginning of civilian. Ever make the connection that's what allowed for civilian. Yes humans aren't bees . But we can compare Chimp sociaty to our modern Democracy the 1% of males get their power from opressing other males and gaining the favor of the majority female population. Our modern Democracy and actual Ted Talk. Femisim is taking us back.

At first I thought, "you gotta be kidding me." HOWEVER, It is so amusing and well-written! Nice job explaining a rather complex insect. I'm glad you kept it positive because I know some people kill them, thinking of them only as pests, and not as pollinators.

I respect all creatures great and small. However, when I go to my garage or anywhere else in my yard, I do not like when these bees hover in my face or anywhere too close to me. I cannot allow them to destroy my garage or my wood that I use for building projects. They even try to take over my dog’s kennels and houses which are also made from wood. If they need pollen from the flowers in my garden, I am willing to share. However, when it comes to real estate, there is no vacancy here. Sorry Charlie.

To avoid killing them, just care for your wooden structures more (most insects prefer damaged wood), paint over exposed wood, or use less wood for various structures on your property (wood is not the only building material, if you continue to use it so liberally expect dozens of other things to try eating it or turning it into a nest. If its too late for that, do the aforementioned methods). Killing them isn't really necessary, just adapt to them. Buying paint or getting some wood polish is far less expensive than having some exterminator come over and wipe out a valuable native bee (and any other bystander insects that get caught).

I hate that they want to destroy everything made of wood, but they're actually really hilarious to watch when there are a bunch of them. They will spend all their time chasing each other around, fighting over who gets to make a hole. They will fight in the air, and when one falls into the grass, the other one will hover over her till she surfaces and it starts all over again. I've seen them fight while flying together in a little ball.
