I grew up in a Neutra house in Hillsborough - known as the Hoffman House. Twice, during the 60s my parents got a call « Mr Neutra is going to be in town and would like to come and see the house. » This led, both times , to panic. He apparently never lost interest in one of « his » houses, and wanted to see that they were being taken care of. He may have been the only person I ever saw intimidate my father. Reportedly the house is still doing fine, today worth a staggering amount of money and is listed as a California State landmark. It was a special place to spend a childhood.

Richard Neutra was my great-grandfather's cousin. I very much enjoy researching him. It's funny, my family looks so much like him!

He was once a FLW apprentice. You can see the great influence of Frank Lloyd Wright on Nutra's design.
