This is hands down the best stream ever! Samay so candid as always.... I've been following his channel and streams since the past 2.5 months now. Learnt chess from my mother when I was about 6, been playing and learning on and off throughout these years. She was the champion at her college in Delhi sometime in the early 80s. I recall, the day I beat her the first time, I was elated, it felt like the biggest achievement. I've had a tough school life too, and unfortunately it didn't get better for me in 11th and 12th. This guy is much younger than me. 3 years back I was going through a tough time, and chess is what kept me alive back then, and this lockdown, I was playing chess parallely without realising this was going on, on KZbin, and when I discovered about a couple of months back, I was speechless, cuz this is what I've been doing too. He's lucky, he has this comedians' network. Came to his channel after I saw Biswa in the thumbnail, and like he said, stayed for him. Probably after Sagar came to the scene, it was shown in my recommendation, cuz I was already a Chessbase subscriber(have to say, it was the only chess channel I had subscribed to, other than Kevin from the chess website, and used to watch a lot of chess videos all these past years), but didn't know about the website or after the man behind it, that's Sagar ofcourse. And I have a 30 year old chess board! (Damn! I really need to buy new now). Earlier, I used to play alone in my room, and in April and May too, when I discovered this, I thought i hit gold. I felt like everything I try and hold as my own becomes too popular and out in the open like Harry Potter which I started reading in 1999, when it wasn't that popular in India. Nonetheless, I was hooked to the streams. I recall, I had commented somewhere, "I used to play alone earlier and now it feels like family" and after that so many people started commenting the same. Probably they felt the same. I know my chats don't get read in any of the streams. It's probably my name, people think it's a fake account, but actually I had plans of starting a unique kinda tech channel, which never materialized. Anyhu, I can see that this stream has the most long and heartfelt comments, so here's another one 😅 that's the connect he has with the people :) Great stream Sagar. One day I was casually scrolling through youtube when I got a suggestion on my feed where the title read yuzi chahal vs comedians on board. Back then i knew only vishy anand and magnus in the chess field and hadn't heard much about standup comedians in general. After about an hour some young dude joined the stream, I had no idea who he was, then samay was like he's vidit gujrathi, the then India no. 2. Back then samay had only 40k subs. Then came chess for charity after which the streams became regular that I couldn't miss even a single one of them. They were really addictive. Then came another gem in sagar shah! Then adhiban, anish giri, Radjabov and so many more. According to me the main reason for samay's success is that he associated himself with the right people at the right time.

When I didn't knew about samay and chess community, I would search on KZbin for random stuff for entertainment. Used to watch vlogs pranks etc. But in april, when I discovered samay then vidit then sagar then anish then radja, there was no time of the day when I searched for something on KZbin. Someone is always streaming. From good morning chess, improving chess, sagars and anish 's afternoon stream, good evening chess by samay then reaching 1400 by samay at 8pm then late night fall guyz, I mean whenever I feel bored or stressed of work, there is someone to watch for. This lockdown would have made me insane but by gods grace this happened and from being insane to becoming more sane than ever and learning chess, I couldn't ask for more.
