Freud influenced Critical Theory, not the other way round. Fromm studied psychoanalytics and Critical Theory basically combined Freud's theory with Marx's.

His ideas are overblown. His ideas were very popular at the time and don’t really belong to him alone imo. He is only famous for certain reasons.
