The Lifesaver Liberty Water Bottle is a combination filter bottle and water purifier pump that meets US miltary standards. It would be a great water filter for backpacking or camping or a good choice as part of an emergency kit, survival kit, bug out bag or get home bag.

That looks like a nice system, when the filter price starts to come down, it will make it even better since it has a smaller amount of water filtration. The jerry can, now that's awesome. I was hoping you would balance test the bottle......

i love the lifesaver liberty the only issue is that it only does 2000 liters. I have the lifesaver 6000 as this does 6000 liters. the lifesaver jerry can, can do 20000 liters and is perfect for base camping I agree with Brian. Remember these are purifiers which means they take out viruses too whereas the water filers DO NOT.

I like that the Liberty filter includes Carbon filtration. Carbon is one of the main reasons I chose my Katadyn Hiker filter back in 2009. Your weekly email update mentioned the Grayl water bottle. I felt the same as you about it being kind of clunky. I was curious so I checked Amazon. It has quite a few negative reviews on Amazon...

Nice enough, however the MSR Guardian costs less per gallon of filtered water and has a better overall design. The Guardian uses a lever for the pump which has mechanical advantage over pushing straight in.

I am buying one next week. I have been looking at this for a while now, but on a limited budget, it had to be careful on my options. However, I have saved enough and will treat myself to an early Christmas present as here in the UK, they have reduced the price of the starter pack ( Extra carbon discs, spare filter, spare mouth pieces, silicone sleeve and carry bag, etc ) by over 70 Pounds (about 120 Dollars), so having one.

Sawyer water filter system is easier, cheaper at $37 compared to $99 for Liberty water filter is a no brainer. I will carry a Grayl water filter bottle before I carry a Liberty filter. Do you want to get dirty and wet on a stream and try to suck water from the Liberty filter. NOT! Sawyer system is multi use and depending on model you get 100K gallons of water to 1 million gallons of filtered water. You need to use a Milbank Bag to filter sediment, transfer water to sawyer for gravity feed filter and very clean water.
@SurvivalOnPurpose
@SurvivalOnPurpose 4 жыл бұрын
But. The sawyer filter does not remove viruses. As far as I know, only this one and the MSR Guardian will do that. And the MSR is about $350.

@@SurvivalOnPurpose The sawyer system does remove viruses, pesticides, chemicals, protozoa, and improves taste. I am not at all bashing your review and the liberty filter! I like your reviews and style. I just wanted to present other options that do the same thing at a much lower cost. I alway's boil my water no matter what filter I carry at that time. Looks good but I'd buy several extra cartridges as one never knows when things will break down or the company goes 'Bye-bye'. Strange-I'm 54, was a kid/teen in the 70's and 80's and always been in the woods. I used to drink out of any old Creek or Stock Pond-even sapped water from under overhangs in the Desert. NBow? Can't even Tough outdoor water without getting some Brain-eating Amoeba or such.

For the price there are other products that will do everything this does and also remove lead and other heavy metals......probably not a huge concern in wilderness areas but might be if you need to use it in or near a city or other industrialized area......

@@SurvivalOnPurpose The Lifestraw Flex, the GRAYL Ultralight, the Epic Nalgene OG, the Seychelle Extreme, and the Sawyer S-1 and S-3 are all considerably less expensive and all claim to remove or significantly reduce heavy metals. Survival On Purpose Water stored in a closed container for more that a day or two is a breeding bed for all kinds of bacteria.
