no surprises, That is how I thought a man with his talent and wealth would live. Being on the road gives little time to enjoy all he has.

I have 4 or 5 of Ron’s prints and really enjoy them. I bought ‘Blue Charlie’ first just because I liked it and loved the both of them. ‘Conversation Piece’ was the Best Buy money wise. It sold out immediately and the price increased well on it, but I bought it because I loved the scene of the 4 of them working intimately in a recording studio. My wife and I go to most of the shows in every tour for 20 years now. We stay at the same hotel as them so we get to ‘bump’ into them often. Lately we figured out a system of knowing when Ron and Sally will have the twins out by the pool, because what do you do with twins to burn off some energy? So we are out there relaxing and Ron has come to see us often and we never bothered them. That is important people. Then they would greet us and we shared that our granddaughter is the same age as the twins and we taught them to swim in our pool. So Ron has invited us to take a photo and they several times set up right beside us to relax with their family. We have figured out many ways of predicting where the band will stay, how they get around, who in security to be totally open and honest to. Some of the long timers have come to trust us now and that feels very good. In Florida Mick and some family slipped out for a very late night dinner and was good with saying hello. Hours later we just happened to be walking to our room when Mick and his family came back and we had a very pleasant moment with them. We didn’t ask for anything. Gradually we are building a pile of pebbles of meeting them under very favorable circumstances. In Buffalo in 2015 all of Keith’s family came to my wife and I to watch the show with. Patti asked questions all night. The next day their security came to speak to my wife and I with instructions to tell us how much they enjoyed our company and they appreciated we were very careful not to press them, but stay friendly with their girls. We have photos with the kids from many tours over the years. What a remarkable bunch. And we do not care if people call us groupies. We are in our 60’s and just found good friendly ways to get to know them a tiny bit.

I always thought that the Stones had deeper philosophical insights, see, “You can’t always get what you want.”. But if you look at their lifestyle today, you suddenly become convinced that they believe they will live forever.

Except for the utterly ridiculous "filling the shoes of Mick Taylor", I take the rest of the homage to be true and the praise well-deserved. The severe decline in the quality of the Stones' work post-It"s Only Rock and Roll" can hardly be attributed to the new guitar player.

@franca59 Wouldn't it be nice if the public didn't entice these guys to keep giving them their old, too well-worn out musical "gifts" by offering them very substantial amounts of money to wheel out the old road show every 12 to 16 months or so? Rock has been suffocated to death by the likes of Stones, McCartney et al. Who in their right mind would form a rock band today, with expectations of success in the public arena, even if they did have a fresh, original sounding product to offer? They'd be mercilessly trapped between these wobbly old-timers and the formulaic, breezy pap that currently passes as popular music. Even discussing the subject without Arthur Lee and Love or Echo and the Bunnymen music playing in the background is profoundly saddening for me.
