I've wanted a Harmony Silhouette so bad ever since they were launched. The Jupiter Thinline also sounds great, but I think they absolutely nailed it with the shape and styling of the Silhouette.

I have one of these guitars, the pickups are great. The guitar is very much like a Les Paul but lighter. I’m having to sell because I had a stroke 2 years ago but don’t regret buying it, just that I can’t do justice to it anymore.

I had a Harmony Rebel a few years ago and it had neck dive issues, so I couldn’t play it at a gig! I wrote about the issue to the Factory and they said it was due to the locking tuners. It’s a shame as these are the best sounding guitars!

Great video. I own, both as new, two Harmony guitars, a 2019 Jupiter model, and a 2020 Silhouette model. There are no words for their craftsmanship and tones other than superb. I really liked the Thinline Jupiter model from the day it was introduced and I seriously considered buying one, but holding me back from pulling the trigger was the Fret-board material now being used, in that, it is not made of ebony. I was willing to look high and low and try to and find a really dark rosewood one, but then the 30%+% hike in price simply made me put on the brakes. Still, it is a great guitar. Maybe with time, the 30%+$ will be shared with Sugar Bear here, and if it comes my way too...I will be sold on it.

Do you find the silhouette and Jupiter different enough that they're both owning/using? I have a silhouette and have been very tempted by the Jupiter

@@humorustrout. That is a great question, and one I asked myself before buying the Jupiter. The Jupiter has different pickups. The Silhouette as you know due to owning one yourself is a mix between a Strat and a Tele, that is the simplest way to put it. It cuts through the mix amazingly easy. This is important in my opinion, because unless you play all by yourself in a church choir, then all you really need is a Gibson LP to sound very good. :) The Jupiter sounds rounder in tone than the Silhouette. However, NOT muddy and far from it. More like clear articulate harmonics but in a rounder way-type of tone as compared to the Silhouette. The tone to me is really pleasing, and sinks into your soul as you hit the strings. The Jupiter is a KEEPER for me. I even bought it as an impulse buy. I was initially attracted to it because I loved the Silhouette, and the Jupiter happened to be a 2019 model with an ebony fingerboard, and in white. Which I prefer. When looking down at the necks while playing the guitars the woods and their respective combinations being and looking aesthetically very different, both are equally inspiring visually. Just beautiful. I am quirky that way. The tone is the main thing though with the Jupiter and it is great. The great looks are a free bonus. Oh! the neck feel, and shape is ever so slightly rounder on the Jupiter, but does not affect me enough to mention it as something negative or positive. The Silhouette is a faster playing neck, for me anyway.

Given the lightweight body, does that result in the guitar being neck heavy? Sometimes that can mean that the peghead wants to droop.

I love harmony guitars and just waited for just that. I’m about to put a Sunbear Set of 59 in the bridge and firebird in the neck in my Harmony Silhouette 😂 So now I know what my next guitar is. Do you know the output of the pickups ? That would be really helpful.

One guitar website lists them as 7.42K each so...more PAF in range but these don't necessarily sound PAFy to my ears....ymmv?

As someone who fucks up endlessly when I try to record ANYTHING I actually appreciate your transparency. It reminds me that most people experience some amount of that, as annoying as it is. I also think your mentality about it not being a big deal in this context is the right way to think about it! That eye roll you gave was still fucking funny though 🤣 Side note (and sorry this is turning so long) you're getting me back on the Delay Llama train! I keep thinking I might want one exceptional analog delay, and that plus all the other addons in the Delay Llama might be taking it there. That specific trick you did where you did the Kill Dry on the modulated/tape setting and set the delay time to zero for a lofi kinda thing? So good! I'm also loving the creative thinking on your part!

@@josephestes7076 nice! I’m sure you’ll love it. The knobs give me a guitar pedal sort of vibe. They don’t completely put me off, but I sort of see chrome or gold knobs matching the rest of the guitars vibe personally. If I ever end up owning one though, we will see if it actually bothers me enough to change them or not haha

You state that these aren’t truly gold foil PUPs but only covers, yet Harmony’s specs state that they are in fact gold foil PUPs. Did you confirm this with them?

They are “gold foil humbuckers” in the sense that they are in fact pickups with gold foil but when someone talks about “gold foils” as a TYPE of pickup and not just a look it means a different thing. I have real vintage and vintage-spec’d gold foils in an old Teisco and my Bunting and it’s a different type of pickup than these; which are a HBs with a look to them. It’s just a judgement call either way because GF pickups and HBs are just different flavors but it IS worth pointing out.
