“The Lighthouse.”
The song has become a Gospel classic. It has also been around now for 50 years.
Written by Ronny Hinson in 1970, “The Lighthouse” was originally recorded and released by The Hinson Family in 1971, on an album titled The Lighthouse. According to Singing News, it was The Hinsons’ version of the song that first appeared on the chart in October 1971.

I was a teenager attending the Tabernacle in Salinas, CA when The Hinsons were down in the dining area getting ready for the night concert. Ronny had stopped their practice, went into a private area by himself, and wrote this song. After practicing for awhile, they came upstairs ready for the concert and explained to the packed house that Ronny just wrote this song and they would like to try it roughly. We loved it. The rest is history!
