Some wonderfully detailed colour footage of the lights of Broadway taken by an amateur filmmaker on 16mm Kodachrome stock in late 1947.
The technical side of creating such complex and moving lights before the age of computers was a mammoth task I understand...involving thermionic valves and mechanical punch-card technology. Amazing they worked as well as this.
This was a frame by frame digital capture from the original 16mm film at 2048X1152 resolution.
The filmmaker was L. Epstein. (died 1953)
Interestingly I believe the footage was processed by "Unifilms" a small South African Production Company of the 1950s.
